The notification system with the UI isn't great anyhow. It should be reworked so the notifications are displayed in the bottom left or bottom middle in a log format similar to EU4. The current iteration is clunky and shouldn't require the player to switch their strategic UI views each turn. It isn't like we would be losing anything from having more windows in the UI anyhow, the map and "stuff to do" is quite minimal as it currently stands.
Just because some players are 'used' to the way it might be right now doesn't mean it is optimal.
For me, just a clear announcement "We DoW you" is enough.
DoW is one of the most important events what there are, I should not to have to 'check' it from some special screen/window.
