Just picked up GALCIV III - loving it so far. Been a fan of series since the first game.
However, I am having a few issues with MEGA EVENTS. I ending up disabling Mega events because they happen so often very soon in the game and they completely mess everything up. Getting Dreadlords or PeaceKeepers before you start researching weapon techs is a little much and IMHO wrecks the whole game.
It would be nice to have setting on when they can occur (ie - mid to late game) or more controls then just rare. I have played about 5 games where an early epic event happened every time (set on rare) - so I eventually to set it to none.
Am I missing something or is this indeed a problem for others?

I agree, there should be a delay in some of those. On the other hand, mega events are supposed to change the way your game is playing. If dreadlords happen early then it forces everybody to research militarism much earlier, potentially making the whole game more violent. You also get to conquer a good world early on if you manage to defeat them!
One of the most interesting games I had I got the Pirates, Space monsters, Dred Lords, AND peace keepers...it was interesting watching the AI kill itself while I sat over in my corner building a fleet.....
I like the randomness... It makes you think and play differently... This is a good thing. If the mega events didn't happen until they were "easy" to deal with then they would not be very "mega"
I agree, Taslios, I also like the randomness of it and not knowing what's around the corner. My current game on an Insane sized map with about 50 majors I had the Dreadlords kick in about turn 100. I felt impending dread. It's now turn 524 and I have never seen any sign of them. I still haven't explored all of the galaxy yet but I'm thinking one of the AI killed them off early. Soon it will be their turn!!!
To speak to the OPs point though, customization options would mean both you and he/she could enjoy the DLC pack for what you want it to be.
I actually would like to speed up when the galactic council meets. I noticed that when stardock gets request like these they change all the settings. It's OK if they change the rare settings, so you can get what you want, but leave the abundant one alone, and please speed up when you meet the galactic council on abundant.
