Just two questions for now if anyone can point me in the right direction, its kinda difficult to search for specifics on the forums. Im also not sure if it needs to be modded in and can be done in the map editor.-Is it possible to change a planet model to that of an asteroid? Im happy for it to look like a planet when you go into the management screen. I just want to make a race who starts with a few low PQ asteroids and no planets at the start.-In the editor it seems that none of the plants, especially gas giants are able to have the option to have rings added to them unless its a pre-defined system. Is there a way to easily add rings to planets/gas giants that I want?
Thanks
Both questions lead into one direction. You'll need pre-defined systems to get them working.
hmm, ill look into that then. Thank you if i get stuck ill reply here unless any others have other input

As for the asteroid system, there is a wrecked starting planet, which could be a good blueprint.
For the rings, I'm using and altering them quite easy for my Methane Breather mod (halted v. 1.2 till workshop support). You might get a first view with it.
Was able to get it half working, but the modding capabilities in Galciv 3 are surprisingly soo underwhelming. There is so much atm that your unable to modify or add.Ill a post proper a reply with all the things i learned and also haven't been able to get working when i get some time. But basically i was able to change the planet model to a single asteroid and change its textures up.. with a few frustrating issues which ill get into more detail later as well.
I made a new post with information on how to make an asteroid appear as your home planet here:
https://forums.galciv3.com/472214/page/1/
I didn't want to post the entire thing here as it would involve changing the post title name and editing the main post which would just confuse things. I felt it needed a brand new clean post.
Don't want to sound didactic, just in case you've yet not seen, you may find all current blueprints at 'Steam\SteamApps\common\Galactic Civilizations III\data\Schema'. Can't say if one may be able to alter them with a modded copy instead of changing the base files directly, which in fact will compromise the whole game.
