I know this is not the place, but I've been having this urge to rant for quite a while. Any chance QM disconnects gonna be addressed somehow? Finding a match is not easy and that's quite annoying by itself, but when the game drops after you finally got one - it's just so much worse... Too much... Today I had a least half of my games dropped and I spent a good couple of hours playing. Ok... rant over... Sorry. Had to get this out of my system.
We are going to move to hosted servers at some point for QM, which should improve this situation significantly.
Is the game supposed to be able to tie? Can it happen? Why does it show on the list as one of the columns?
Thanks for the info, Soren. I needed that. I know you're doing what you can and much more than many other game devs do. I appreciate that and don't take for granted. I've been just really frustrated with the situation and today it was the straw that broke the camel's back. haha
Has anyone playing a lot of 1v1 had any reliable success NOT rushing offworlds? I've only played a few games over the last week or so (still on beta 5), and unless the offworld prices are uncharacteristically low, it seems futile to do anything else.
Reliable? No... Occasional... With very lucky shortage(s) and/or very incompetent opponent. There's not enough pressure on prices so making money onworld is extremely difficult and almost isn't worth the trouble.
in my experience not rushing for at least 1 OW is not viable except when every offworld send is <30k and/or the resource situation deploreable.
The leaderboards come from an internal Stardock website that's generic for multiple games. It's a no-frills internal tool but the backend is the same as the GalCiv3 Metaverse and Sorcerer King Metarealm. Once Offworld is closer to release there'll be a beautiful public Offworld leaderboard page as well.
If you could make the leaderboard and game reporting as good as or even better than the Warcraft 3 ladder system (ie. has all replays for all games played by the highest rated players) I'd fall in love with OTC twice over.
everything looks 100% correct
Beginners Luck 101:
Take a break at 320 QM wins for better luck in tourneys.
Always bid auctions to 32k
When possible, found with 3,200$ bonus funds.
When possible, found on tile 32,32.
Launch offworld whatever gives 32k launch funds.
Always be on team 3 or 2.
Out of curiosity what do the ranks mean? Ie what's the difference between being recorded as rank 1 or rank 2? Is that for queuing purposes, or for calculating points? Curious
At the moment it doesn't mean a lot. It generally means you have won a lot more than you have lost, and probably more more games vs high ranking players than lower ranking ones. The QM matchmaking puts people in quickmatches on a first come first served basis. Total newbies can be matched with first grade professionals and I can tell because I've had several people tell me that their QM against me was literally the first QM they ever played.
Matchmaking based on skill will be implemented at some future date. That much has been promised I believe.
Are we going to see a link created to keep updated on this?
Eventually there will be website with the information but no ETA as of now.
IN beta 7, you can now see your own ranking, as the ranks of your friends in the game itself as a tooltip over the quickmatch button.
I can't wait for the MP ranking interfaces
Any updated list coming? It's been 2 weeks which is an eternity in QM rankings!
