The 1.1 update includes Steam Workshop integration, two new difficulty levels, and UI improvements. With Steam Workshop integration, players can easily share their ship designs and custom factions with other Galactic Civilizations III players. There are already over 400 new ship designs and custom factions available for download today on Steam Workshop!
This update also includes custom map support for multiplayer games, pirates in multiplayer, and a ton of other improvements and fixes for the game. You can see the full changelog here: https://forums.galciv3.com/467453
I didn't think the download that just happened an hour+ ago was the official 1.1 update as my game still shows me in optin status.
Great job and thank you for the Map Pack!
Has the "Help" mode been deactivated? Do we have to enable it now, like "cheats" in GalCiv2? If so, how?
Do you recommend a full reinstall if the Optin 1.1 was already being used? as Avatar137 stated above, this happened for me as well. An update was queued (proper v1.1 release), however after downloading it steam tells me I still have the Opt-in installed.
In steam-beta options, I can NOW finally disable the Opt-in, however even though I downloaded the proper v1.1, before I launch, steam is still stating its an Opt-in.
Is this purely a steam problem? Would the proper recommendation be to re-install without any opt-ins?
I've seen the Opt-In status stick in Sorcerer king as well. Everything seems to work just fine, just stays mis-labeled for a long time. the only way I've found to consistently not have this happen is to opt-out before the full release.
Update - after the proper v1.1 update and disabling steam optin, only after launching the game, steam removed the optin tag where I launch the game.
Hmmm. Just had the old never-ending End Turn bug, like back in Beta. That's not promising... Might be because I was using an old save, though.
The opt-in branch is identical to the mainline 1.1 so its no different
Is there a post somewhere that shows how to upload things to the Steam Workshop? Also, im guessing it would be in the post, but just curious how i go about adding to a workshop a BG/FG image pack? I know you can add factions but im not wanting to make any of the images i made into factions just have all the images show up in the custom faction screen.
If anyone wanted to know, im wanting to add all my Startrek images i made here:

The answer is found here
And for clarification, no the only things you can currently upload to the workshop are custom factions and single ship designs with no equipment.
Honestly the lack of any support for other resources is becoming depressing.
Indeed - it's pretty incongruous to make the game itself so easy to mod by exposing so much to xml and including the easy-to-deploy mod folder, and then not following through with full workshop support.
I would think that by saying "...with Steam Workshop Support" right there in the title that it should be clear that this is just the initial, first pass of workshop support, and that they wanted to push limited features that they've got working out now, while they continue to work out integration for more intricate workshop support.
Why would that comment make it clear. If anything it muddies the water, it says nothing that would indicate it is only limited support!
I feel your right that the initial post didn't make it clear. However luckily it was briefly brought up in the newest dev stream. Although if memory serves, they are at least for the moment, only looking at adding custom ship packs, map uploads and general "mod uploads". Which are things like, if you make AI changes or other major changes that you can do currently with modding.. That being said it wasn't fully clarified what if any limitations mods would have. And they don't plan to add it for a long while. I wasn't in the stream so maybe myself or someone else can ask next time for more information. Tbh the lack of information has kinda drained my enthusiasm in continuing doing any mod work until its out so I can know what exactly I would even be able to include. Also its unfounded, but I guess I'm vain when it comes to doing more things as well, as people are making there own work using the stuff I created. Which they have all the right to do and I am actually happy they are doing so. its just that I would have preferred it if I could have also uploaded my work that I had put so much energy into. Then everyone could use it to there hearts content but I wouldn't feel kind of cheated of my time and effort.
