Still on first map, but loving the crap out of this game.
During combat however units get to decide from where they will attack. Would it be an addition to make the player see from where the units will attack? This can be done adding arrows that point to the side of the enemy where the attack will come from. That way a player can choice the direction and also give his units a better chance to position for the next attack.
The thing is positioning doesn't really matter, so why does it matter which way the enemy attacks?
Not the enemy units but your units. Sometimes your units take a detour or are standing at a tile which is tacticalwise less favourable. In one battle my champion moved towards the enemy unit like this:
starting side player: Champion--> enemyunit enemy starting side
My unit had plenty of movement to move to the backside of that enemy unit. Because it choses that side I had to spend another turn to reach the other enemy units (which were archers). If the player could see and choose the attacking side (like below) it would be more tactical:
starting side player: enemy unit<--Champion enemy starting side
Ah, gotcha. I can get behind that
There's actually a 1 tile ZOC around each enemy unit that you can't simply run through (otherwise fast units would have way too high of an advantage). It's the reason you run around the enemy in weird ways sometimes, but we do a really poor job of explaining the system exists But 'Visible tactical ZOC' is on our list.
That's old complaint and a valid one.
When I click to attack the enemy the path my troop will take is totally unpredictable. Even if there is only one enemy to fight against (so no ZOC issues). This problem goes back couple years, and it would be good to be able to choose from which tile the attack will take place (by arrows).
Of course, it can be avoided if you move and than attack, but why use two clicks if you can use one?
I always move and then attack separately, so this has never been an issue for me. I can see how it would be useful, though.
But, if positioning is important, than make sure you move and are positioned correctly first, then attack.
I found that out as well, but still it would be easier to merge both action with one mouse click.
