I'm looking forward to seeing some of the mods on the steam workshop. Is there any word on when this will be integrated? If so, will it be in 1.1?
I think in last week's dev video, Paul said July??? He said for sure, no more patches until 1.1, unless they find something truly game breaking. LEP for example is not game breaking, it's a balancing issue.
Are you kidding? Patches? Patches? LOL they have to build DLC first, and retrofit GC II AI for import first before they release Patches!
Who said anything about Patches?
LMAO - Reminds me of Allen Iverson's rant about practices.
1.1 is 'announced' in the Support section but is listed as 'Unreleased'. The last few patches have sat in the state for a day or two and then been available as an opt-in. I imagine this patch will follow suit.
Looking at the change log so far, I'm sort of underwhelmed. There seem to be a lot of outstanding balance/gameplay issues and the AI needs some additional help but I don't see much on either front included. Of course their primary concern has to be stability (crashes are a no-no) but I was hoping that 1.1 would be leaning more towards those former issues (and who knows, I doubt that list is final).
I just saw it. Yeah, LOTS of bug fixes, not any balancing changes. Thats not a big deal for me, as there are easy ways to mod balance changes you want right now, but no way for users to fix crashes (I had over 100 CTDs in ship designer, I hope they got my specific crash type). Workshop was also a HUGE priority of theirs. Honestly, thats why I haven played more than 7 races, and one of the reasons I havent tried an insane map, not enough races. Too lazy to dig through forums. Workshop should be awesome to start the great collaboration projects. Tweaking can come in the next patch.
I certainly want to hear Paul's thoughts on the great LEP/Approval debate, and some other balancing philosophies, based on different maps sizes, number of players, etc
I too am generally ok with the state of the game. ON THE OTHER HAND THAT DOESN'T MEAN IT CAN'T GET BETTER.
I'm allowed to complain like this. After all, I'm a customer.
As a previous developer, I lived by the creed "the customer is always right". The conundrum was when you had more than 1 customer
I too understand that concept. But I also know the loudest one gets heard the most.
And certain customers are asked to take their business elsewhere.
Only if they're abusive or rude. Annoying on the other hand is the happy medium.
There's a certain art to it. If you're too quiet, they ignore you but if you act too badly, they kick you out. The trick is to find the middle ground.
Don't want to be overly critical but If Paul is the guy who in the dev stream is constantly wanting to look things up I'm not sure he has any real idea what is going on under the hood.
Thanks for the responses all, much appreciated.
