I have been playing the 1.02 opt in and noticed the durantium refinery now gives a +2 to total manufacturing instead of the previous +4 to total production. I am not commenting on the balance or anything, I just don't understand what "total manufacturing" means.
It doesn't seem to show up as a bonus when I hover over manufacturing and it is not just a set number of manufacturing points because the colony still produces '0' manufacturing when the production sliders are moved all the way over. Is it maybe just a typo and it is giving a +2 to total production? I looked around but didn't see any way to determine flat production. Any input would be appreciated!
For some awful reason they changed it to Total Manufacturing when the actual effect couldn't be farther from the truth. As far as I can still, it's still a plain Base Production increase (the same number that Population gives). Total Production was inaccurate (made it sound like it was after multipliers like from the Government techs), but at least was referring to the right stat.
Thanks, that is kind of what I was thinking. Definitely a bit confusing with the terminology. Seems like it would just be easier to have the Refinery put out a flat bonus to manufacturing (after modifiers), which would make sense as "Total Manufacturing."
That would make mega-garbage however, so I'd rather they just fix the tooltip name to be what it actually is, Production, and then have a spot on the planet UI with Influence, Approval, and the like for Production.
Don't like it, preferred when it was a bonus to production and could be tweaked based on the sliders. This mandates that every planet be building somethign every turn, so you can't go 100% research or Econ and leave the queue empty / no starbase.
Despite the name of the bonus, the Durantium Refinery's bonus is still towards base production. They've just renamed it to something even more likely to cause confusion than before.
