hey all, just researched carrier modules in my game and wanted to know if the fighters that come with them replenish when destroyed in battle?
i ask because i have already been burned by the transport tech i got earlier, i got it and thought "sweet, i can load a module onto my bitching new capital ship and kill two bird with one stone " however when i finally invaded a planet it stole the entire ship, i was not too pleased, i thought i would be able to keep the ship and just reload a new population if i wanted to invade again.
so back to my main question, i dont want to be investing a load of manufacting cost and maintenence into these things if the entire ship becomes useless if you lose fighters in a fight, i mean you dont scrap an entire aircraft carrier in real life just because you lost a few planes right?
Yes, but you need to be in your own territory, and wait a turn or two.
Fighters in carriers will replenish each time they destoyed untill carrier itself alive.
There is no need in being in your territory or any waiting...
awesome, thanks guys i will get building now and commence my galactic invasion
Yes.. once I played the campaign I realised just how OP carriers are. Love that feature! Can't wait for them to be nerfed!
So do I... carriers are owerwhelmig power and.. throwing all fun from ship designer into trash...
Well you certainly don't replace them right away. I've had several turns go by without any fighters replenishing.
Huge ships effectively hard-counter Carriers. Thing is, Huge ships have so much room they can BE carriers and still have weapon power in the thousands and defense in the triple digits.
All ships from medium to huge have enough room to place in carrier module, and some weapon systems. Trouble is that Huge ship whith carrier modules will destroy huge ship whihout carrier modules.
I don`t know... I`ve several episodes when my fighter were lost, but next turn, even on enemy territory they all be on their place.
If you build interceptor ships will these be the fighters that the carrier uses?
the fighters and drones are automatcally designed using some template that is hidden in the shipyard screen. you can "upgrade" an existing small ship to the current assault fighter design, though (not worth it - just wanted to point that out, so you cantake a look in a test game what stuff they usually have)
i think the default loadout is one of each weapon type, one of each defense type and a thruster engine. if there is extra room left, more weapons will be added. don't know a about the drone bay (smaller fighter bay unlocked by the follow up tech). i guess the concept is the same. tried them once, didn't seem worthwhile. assault fighter bay is better, even if its lower on the tech tree.
Oh that is too bad. I really wanted my Colonial Fleet Carriers to spit out my Viper fighters. That would have been cool to see on the battle screen.
