Great - I'm home today so I'll give it a test drive!
Glad to hear it. Appreciate the updates..

Beautiful, I love the new icons and the new music. However got my first crash 17 mins into the tutorial. Submitting a ticket now.
New splash screen is pretty similar to this crappy movie from 1985 though.
Took me forever to remember the name of this stupid movie, hah.
Oh yea, and there's even this from the wiki..

Wonderful!
Thanks to STEAM I didn't even get Beta 6, 720 MB of 2,200 after three days. Now I start all over with measly 32.8 MB of 2,600. I like GalCiv, but with STEAM it's a pain in the ass!
Oh, yes. I've a connection with 55.000 kBit/sec, not a 300-baud-accoustik coppler.
Did I mention that I dearly love STEAM?
Was really hoping you guys had added some more polish to the battle viewer...ships still leave the battle area and using free mode is painful. Was hoping for chase cam and more, like what you had in GC 2. What would be neat is a view from where a weapon fires from, to watch it going towards the enemy. Also, the ability to sort via planets discovered to see what there is rather than having to move all around the viewer would be so helpful. NOt sure why this is still left out. No bugs and everything is looking great, but still really hoping these 2 items can be done soon.
I knew that screen looked familiar... and the movie wasn't that bad
Interesting, I have about the same download/upload speed, ~60 Mb/s, (it's same with FIOS now) which is what you seem to have, but I download from Steam at ~7 mb/sec and get the entire game in a few minutes, patches quickly. Wonder why you are getting such poor results, that is frustrating!
I am guessing from my results that Steam may not be the problem, at least not directly. Something about your connection path to the download servers; there was a time when I could troubleshoot that sort of thing, but the tech has left me behind, lol.
Nice! I will try a new game today and try to find some more bugs for you to squish. PS: It seems the custom faction achievement is still broken.Built From NothingWin as a Custom Faction
PPS: I love the metaverse and the stats (how many played which galaxy size, which race and so on)! But why does the Detail view if you click on a Player not Show the stats from the ladder table like :
I would contact your ISP then and find out why your downloads are so slow. Steam downloads around 10-15MB/s for me.
Multiplayer still doesn't work right. I am guessing it just isn't a priority for Stardock.
For me it is the only way to play. I do not gain very much enjoyment out of single player. My whole reason for playing is to play with friends.
Same for my Brother. He only wants to play a few local games but without a steam sale it's just too much money. Would be nice to be able to play mp via LAN without buying extra copies. :/
I understand. It would be nice to be able to play with family over LAN without buying more copies.
I already did buy more copies, however.
For me I just don't want it to CRASH after several turns in MP.
I have purchased 4 copies for myself and my kids. I really want the game to succeed. Every time I play with my neighbor (who also bought 2 copies), it gets stuck after several turns.
Make ya not want to play it if you only get to play for a few turns and then have to start over.
I did not try MP yet but it sounds very bad. I hope it can be fixed soon.
There was another post somewhere (forgive me for not finding it) where someone else was having the same problem with MP (crashes a few turns in), the Stardock employee he/she was talking to was saying that it worked fine for them and was puzzled.
Turned out it was Steam's cloud settings that were messing it up (like it was sending the game to the cloud and causing it to be corrupted when playing MP). If you turn off Steam's cloud settings it might resolve the issue.
Hope this helps, cheers
I saw that post and did all those instructions and it did not help. Still crashes after several turns.
Ahem, another patch, another game, same old issue - game gets stuck on random encounters with pirates and there's nothing I can do to progress past it. Reloading the game has little to no effect - same battle will end up in being stuck again. While I can still cycle over the idle colonies/ships, I cannot take any action with the 'stuck' fleet and even deleting it via the console doesnt allow me to end the turn. Can we get some fix for that please, I'm getting tired of every game on large map ending up like this...
Okay, thanks. The problem of slow download is not with Stardock, I have to gnaw on my fingernails and search somewhere else.
Got an update of the firmware of my router. ISP says "STEAM??? Err... Never heared!"
Contacted STEAM support. Tried all suggestions in quick answer. Nope!
In good old days I had an ISDN-connection which took really lots of time but was faster with Stardock-server as STEAM is now.
If I find a solution I'll post it - with my address, so the Nobel Prize can find me.
What do you mean not with stardock and you have to search somewhere else?
Sorry, I took the false button - so I gave more info. The problem is a very slow download with STEAM.
I play single player only, and it crashes plenty on me...
I've sent literally a barrage of service tickets in about the game crashing...If I have created custom races or ships, it crashes and won't reload. If the game hangs, I can't reload the last auto save...Have to start over with an uncustomized race!!! They need to seriously get this ironed out. I saw them do the same thing with the Magic game a few years ago and it was NOT ready for prime time, not even close. Never was...However they did the right thing and when Fallen Enchantress came out, we all got free copies, and it runs pretty good most of the time....
This is about my favorite game, however, I really want it to work....
You have to remember that it's still not released...
For me it crashes about as often as a lot of other release games, maybe once every 3 - 4 hours which is fairly acceptable especially as it auto-saves often. But crashes are often very dependent on hardware and software configuration e.g. hardware/drivers/OS/OS patch level, etc. So some people will doubtless have a much worse experience.
The dozens of memory leaks on the fix list of 6.2 will no doubt help long term stability and performance on many peoples machines.
Honestly have a look at the release note for 6.2 (not yet released), there are lots of crash and memory leak fixes.
