Hi folks, I'm back. Don't everyone run and hide now. I know its been awhile but....here I are. So, what's goin' on with me? Still in my place, still got mine roof. I'm collecting social security now, got me a bank account, a few bucks saved up. Gee, I feel like a real person...again. Lol Don't have another laptop yet but I'm working on it. My little Acer, the hard drive is on its way out. I plan on finding a new one for it. Everything else works and I'm quite fond of it. The very first laptop I had I took apart some time ago and took it into the shop on Saturday to see if it could be saved, nope. It'll cost more to fix it than its worth and no guarantees after that. I had another one, an Inspiron someone gave me, that I let them recycle too. I saved the hard drive and memory from my first one. I have one more, a Compac, that I have a hard drive for, I think, plus memory. I'm going to take that to the shop and see what's up. If it isn't too much I'll get it fixed. As for a newbie, now that I have the monthly income (rent comes right off the top automatically) I plan on saving until I have enough to get the machine I want. No cheap nonsense either, I like Toshiba and will most likely go that way. I figure by the time I'm ready the dinkleberries at MS will have gotten their act together (wishful thinking?) with regards to Windows 10. I still have Win 7's installation disc and plan on doing a dual boot or if the one I bring in works keep 7 on that and still go for the newbie. It will take some time but hey, I'm in no hurry.
So. how's life at the asylum? Everybody doing their thing still? I kinda miss all the stuff that goes on here. Has Kitty come back with those luscious creations of hers? Lightstar still bangin' out the WB's? I swear that guy's a machine in disguise. How about newbies? Get some more to come join the fun? And how about the cap'n...starkers still denying that his intake of cabbage was responsible for all the pollution in China? Has he bagged any bankers lately? And did Jafo finally get to sit in the cockpit of one of his creations? How about DB? Still complaining about having to clean his screen after somebody cracked a bad joke when he wasn't looking? Jeez! I missed you guys
Yea DB is still here. Of course I don't know if i'm the DB you were talking about. If not to bad for you because as I said I'm still here. About time you showed up. Glad things are in much better order for you. Sounds like you will have things running smooth soon.
Welcome back!!
Hey you old codger, 'bout time ya got yer arse back here.
It is good to see you again, not that I missed you or anything. I mean, couldn't go getting all sentimental and admit something like that, could I.
However, I did ask in another thread if anybody knew of your whereabouts and if you were okay.... not that anybody knew anything for sure.
S'pose the best thing about that is news didn't arrive that you were pushing up daisies. Frankly, they can do without your assistance for some while yet.
As for this living in the fast lane at a slow pace, I couldn't imagine you any other way. If the woman across the street stripped off and yelled out "come and get it", the old one-legged bloke from two blocks down 'd get there before you did.
Never mind, she wasn't your kinda gal anyhow. The old one-legged bloke reckons she ate KFC throughout the entire perfomance and squealed like a stuck pig when she got her... you know, when she got there. So with your delicate sensibilities, not to mention your back, it's probably best you were in the slow lane and broke down that night.
You see, there are advantages to crossing into the slow lane... you got a better chance of avoiding head on collisions like that one and getting KFC dipping sauce all over yer stick shift.
Nah, the fast lane is fer young uns... and silly old farts who inadvertantly step on the grandkid's skateboard at the bottom of the front steps. It's not funny, you know. One old grandpa got clocked doing 90 in a 60 zone and was across the state line by the time he managed to pull up. Fechen skateboards, they're a menace to society.
Anyhow, I'm off the get a bit o' kip, and while I'm peeling off a few zzzzzzz;s - don't say snoring or I'll be most displeased - perhaps you could write a few lines and tell us what you've been up to in your prolonged absence... and don't say you stripped off so the woman across the street came to you. That would be too much information and I dunno if I could bear it. I try the same thing with a woman across my street and she falls down in fits of laughter and can't get up again.
Hey Uvah, glad you're still puttering about. Nothing wrong with puttering, I do it all the time. Sometimes I can even get a fair amount done while I'm puttering. Been puttering around with some plastic plumber here lately, took me forever as usual, but the stuff doesn't leak (finally).
ROSS!!!!!! Where the heck ya been??? Quit playing with your putter and get back into the forums.....alright?
good to see you back hope things turn for the better for you
Welcome back Uvah!
Uvah! yay Welcome back.
Hiya Ross! Welcome back!
Hey Uvah! Welcome back! I haven't been here much myself, I've had some bad things happen, but I thought the last time I checked in here I saw a post from you? Hmmm.....can't remember......you know what they say,....of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most!
Great to see you back, Uvah!!!!
Sheesh. I sabotage all 3 of his computers and STILL he comes back.
I give up!
[Yeah, what the heck, welcome back!]
WHO are you, again?
Good to see you're back...
Now, for those of you who think grammar and punctuation aren't important....
I could have typed it...
Good to see your back...
Great to hear from you Uvah.
I can relate with those laptops. I have an Acer that kept blue screening on me do to the fact of my butter fingers spilling a full glass of cola on it. It took out my touch pad and I thought my hard drive. I removed the hard drive and done something that is every techs worse nightmare. I sprayed the entire drive with WD-40 and wiped it clean. The laptop has been working fine for the last 3 months, lol
You are missed Ross when you are not here. Take good care.
The 'WD' in WD40 stands for 'water displacement'. Its most common use is for displacing water from a wet engine's electrics so it can restart....and/or as a fixer of squeaky hinges [it's a light lubricant]. It doesn't really classify as a contact cleaner for electronics...
Oh, and just as is the case with 'Area 51' it makes you wonder what happened to all those versions before '40' [and after]....
Hey Ross !! I was seriously about to write a post asking if anyone had heard from you lately. I really was very worried about your safety and welfare. I am so relieved that all is going well for you. -- Ace --
And here was me thinking it stood for Wicked Degreaser... cos it cleaned out the carbie on my mower after somebody related to Steve emptied 2lt of oil in to it... the mower, that is. I won't mention it was his brother Russell and that he knows as much about mechanical things as a hooker does about rocket science. Like I said, I won't mention it, and if anyone mentions that I mentioned it I will flatly deny it and will have an alibi to have been elsewhere at the time.
Starkers, ya know WD-40 will remove lipstick... from uh,......well, anything ya need lipstick taken off of! Handy stuff. If something doesn't move, and it's supposed to, use WD-40. If it moves and it isn't supposed to, use duct tape!
WD40 blast from the past what a product that was
As to my comment every techs worse nightmare. Not a good contact cleaner because it will leave a oily film behind and will attract dirt, that is why I wiped it clean with a rag so I could remove the remaining residue. Here are some myths and facts. http://wd40.com/cool-stuff/myths-legends-fun-facts#fish
Having spent from 1968-2002 working in injection moulding with tools upto 8.5 tons , I can tell you that we loved WD40 if a tool was in trouble one of the first thing out thebox would be the WD40 it was a tool saver and if the tool costs £250,000 (garden Chair) saving it was very important I can tell you
I use it all the time for many things. one of my favorite uses is to remove Duct Tape residue. After you remove the tape there is often crap left behind so I spray it and let it set a minute, you can then wipe the surface clean.
