The devs have fixed 1-turn overflow! It's not obvious because of the UI. Specifically, (feedback #1) the progress bar does not move up the "overflow" amount until the following turn. But I know it works because I completed a 30 mp building in 1 turn with only 20 social production after a turn in which there was overflow. Same thing with shipyards.
Research isn't so cut-and dry, but I think it also works. Maybe. If you select a tech deeper in the chain the progress bar actually does go up with overflow when it switches to the deeper tech! However (feedback #2) it's not possible to select a research option if that's the level you skipped. (Feedback #3) If you only select the next level tech and you go to the "Not Researching" state, after selecting the new tech the progress bar doesn't go up. I'm not certain whether the overflow then gets applied to that new tech after pressing turn. It's more difficult to test because techs get more expensive.
Anyway, thank you Stardock devs for getting this in! I can now start sending feedback again! Starting with this post!
So now it's just a matter of polish.
Hopefully this will get people off of Paul's back for a while.
I need someone to fire up an Insane map, add 10 custom factions including all primary races and all minors and tell me how it performs. I have 16 gigs ram for this and I have the game mounted on a Samsung 850 SSD (500 gig).
While he well deserves such a break, I say not! I think the Drengin have nailed it with the whole slavery thing and he appears to be in good health. I think we have years of forced labor left in him. Anyone who disagrees should report to the nearest intimidation center immediately!
The 1 turn overflow debate to me really isn't important. Like its been said, most games simply curb this by not allowing it in any form. The notion that it is in any way enabled should be viewed as an amazing achievement... not that the logic is particularly complex, but the balancing is.
Ok, before anything else, fix the ui so that it's apparent!
I signed in for the first time in ~7 years to publicly rage-quit at the lack of overflow... I was all righteously indignant and this just took the wind out of my sails so now I'm a little lost. Instead I guess I'll just act petulant at trainwreck UI and the absence of manual describing basic game features (in game, out of game, or wiki (the gamepedia one is skeletal))?
Thread necro!
