Hey guys. Exited for a new rts game. I really hope its going to be like aoe. When reading the faq and gameplay it all sounds really good. But when I look at the trailer some needs to be done indeed. Clunky lookin animations and the terrain looking very medicore. Tho i noticed the mountains which look similar to aom which makes me happy as it waz my fav game. I dont know if any feedback can also be posted but I guess ill post some.
The buildings that i saw on trailer/screenshots need some of their own grass/texture around them to make thrm truly mix in with the enviorment. Think of the city tiles around aom buildings in aom or gaia lush that automatically got placed around the buildings it was the finishing touch and withoutt it the game looks a bald.
So now a few questions and suggestions.
Will there be an editor available to use like in aoe games especially aom it was really good you could make maps then host them online in the lobby.
And second are there going to be recorded games? This one is super important for the more competitive community.
Other than that im happy to hear that theres going to be leaderboards and seasons and clans. Hopefully there will be other basic features as well such as match history with detailled post game stats info. And ur own profile with rating ur rank amount of games played and other stats. And a lobby list where people can easily find games and host them.
Soo yeah the idea is really good of this game im digging the robot designs and aoe aspects of thiz game but there def needs to be work done on thd graphics to make it all come together as 1 less clunky picture btw. Some of the rendermap concept art was super detailled in terms of graphics is that going to be the look of the game at the end?
edit: Is the final game the units and graphics going to look like this? https://stardock.cachefly.net/www_servogame_com-assets/media/conceptart/1_MapRenderTest.jpg
Some more feedback from my friends and going off what ndsolutions posted in another topic, the graphics are really disappointing a few people at the moment, obviously it is still early days but it's something to think about. For example stuff was said like..
"tbh to me it looks like LoL. I haven't played LoL, only seen some snippets of gameplay... but ya it looks like LoL. "
"Futuristic games of today look like games made for children. The robots have designs that look so childish"
"these look like some hybrid of legos and bionicles"
Also some concerns expressed about the feature of getting gear from playing games making better players lose to worse players just because they have played more. Hopefully that lesson was learnt with AoE3 though.
Personally, aside from anything to do with gameplay, I hope the leader boards are very thorough. Please don't make divisions and leagues like League of Legends and StarCraft 2. It's seriously annoying for the highest level players. Interested to see the clan system too!
It graphically looks very similar to Planetary Annihilation which I (and a lot of other people) really have no problem with personally.
Also I believe Servo is in Alpha so maybe we should forgive that the game may not look as good at the moment as it will when release comes.
Servo is currently in pre-alpha so the graphics are very very rough. That said, by all means, we welcome feedback.
First of all I think we shouldnt keep on comparing the game with the Age Of Empires Series, because as it seems now the games do have certain discrepencies and it's a completely new game.
At some point, they said that the gear is just here to kinda customize your machines and bots, the outcome of the game is still mostly decided by the skill of the players, so I guess this shouldnt be too much of a problem. Instead I think it's a reason to keep playing the game for a long time in order to get the best and most shining gear out there.(I also think AOE 3 I a great game and you could have some sort of advantages with higher homecity lvls but it still depends mostly on your abilities.)
It's definitely not like AOE. The idea here is the players units and strategies are constantly evolving. you create your units outside the game.
