Yeah, thats what i meant. The CGI stuff, the narrative, the visuals....everything was well polished and deserves praise no doubt. Its just the basic gameplay and boring factions/units, what has disapppointed me. But it has clearly its fans, too bad i cant say i am one of them. Maybe with additional units/factions it will change. I was not that much of a fan of CnC Generals until Zero Hour either...
I really enjoyed Generals with the Zero Hour expansion... however I did mod the game to suit my tastes. I removed the magical homing ability of cannon rounds etc, made machine guns barely scratch tanks, tweaked things so it was a little more realistic and so on...
Heads up, the official site was updated with new info. Looks interesting, but sadly I have too many games to play as it is. Will likely wait until it is released.
So this is a PvP game? No single player option?
Build out your Servos and fight your way through 25 story missions that span galaxies. Start on barren asteroid outposts, gathering parts and learning to control your team of Servos. Land on distant mining moons, fighting hostile Bloomspawn and rival Servos. Journey through the wormhole and back to Old Earth for a confrontation with the fearsome Steelskins. As you unlock new parts and fill your Hangar with Servos, you'll take on ever more challenging opponents. Only the toughest Servo teams will survive and learn the truth about the Bloom.
Features:
It also has a Co-op mode, beside the PVP.
Will there be an option to play games with bots(computer controlled opponents)?
Thanks for posting that. The marketing copy I saw only mentioned PvP.
Personally, I'm not a big fan of linear campaigns. 25 is a lot, but once you play them, that's it.
But man, the idea of building up a bad ass tank is cool.
MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) is a game where small (usually 3-5) teams of players fight each-other on a relatively small map. Each player controls one character who gains levels and equipment through the game. In most, players start from opposite sides of the map and work your way through pre-set defenses toward their opponents' base. As to why it's fun, that's harder to say, but there is a competitive aspect and a cooperative aspect as well as tactical and strategic decisions and a little bit of RPG thrown in for flavor. If you are interested, most are free to play. The big ones are League of Legends and DoTA2, although there is also Heroes of Neworth, the Stardock-published Demigod, and many more. if you are looking for a more casual version and are a fan of Adventure Time, Adventure Time Battle Party on the Cartoon Network webpage is pretty fun.
EDIT: Also this genre started as a mod for a traditional RTS, so camera angles and controls are very RTS-ey.
A tad unrelated, but here's another RTS from Stardock: Ashes of the Singularity. It will focuses on large scale battles and will use the Nitrous engine.
There was this old game where you played RTS but the spin was that you built mechs as well, and you collected parts in battle from blown-up mechs. Anyone remember the name? It was divided into underground, ground and air maps.
Do you mean "Metal Fatique" Heavenfall?
That's it!
The wars of the future aren’t fought with a mere few dozen units, but thousands of deadly robotic constructs
Key Features:
*SIGH* Seems like the casuals will like it based on my experience....
I'm starting to think that it will be a loong time before something like Dawn of War: Dark Crusade or Company of Heroes will be released again....
I wish Sins 2 would announce with a founder pack so I can get in line
