Ok, I've probably played the Scientific tutorial about 10+ times now and I'm getting absolutely nowhere.
I've tried various strategies for it. Initially I was going all out on the non-essential high end stuff like Steel, Glass, and Chemicals. But in these cases the costs of the bare essentials like water, food, oxygen, fuel were completely overcoming my profits made on the higher end stuff.
So I switched over to making the essentials and selling those when they spiked, and yet again I'm somehow defeated. I've tried focusing on power, on researching upgrades, about the only thing I haven't tried is investing in sabotage. I just don't have the extra cash on hand most times to actually use the black market.
Anyone have a better idea on how to beat this scenario? I'm trying to take advantage of the production of advanced resources with the science buff, but it's just not getting me anywhere in the game. Inevitably one of the computers quickly buys me out before I even get a lvl 5 HQ.

Strongest start is the 3 iron in a triangle just south of where you first start. Settle up next to that. I think opening up with 3 mines there might be the strongest. Perhaps 1 mine and 2 steel wins though. Be very conservative with cash. Extra claims and glass for upgrading base is all I would spend it on.
Whew, I used the strategy Soren had more or less. I wasn't able to get the huge power spike he saw in the game, in fact it bottomed out, but the same thing more or less worked for me with placement and setup, I just ended up with offworld launching to end it instead of power.
I beat it on my fourth try, and I doubt I'd win straight away again if I played again.
I won out of the top left cliff. It has a good space for power plants connected to your base (superconductor!) and has aluminum, iron, and silicon right there to build on. The boon of scientific is NOT so much that you can use those underground resources, but that you get the same production out of the low resources as the high - use that to your advantage! Make use of those low-quantity resources!
