the AI is not all that great i have put the AI intelligence on godlike and it seems to be the same as having it on beginners i was fooling around with the console and unlocked all researches as soon as i built my first ship i went to war with all AIs to see what would happen and it just became super annoying having to see them beg for peace every turn...........another thing i notice is that playing as terran alliance no one will go to war with you i have gone over 600 turns with all AI and no war but if you play as yor singularity all AIs will declare war as soon as they find you but wont attack.....unless in thier area...now i know that ships have certain range and can only move so far but at this point in the game that shouldnt be a problem especiallly on godliketo have influence as a victory is pointless since you have to infuence 95% of the map to win but you can do that very easily since no one will go to war with you just build abunch of star bases and turn AUTO on and wait for about 500 turns to win ...also find it pointless since you can just infuence the entire galexy in conquest and win that way with no war ...but it should be that if you are influencing another AIs space they should not be happy with that....i do look at the AI relationship with the player and shareing a boarder is bad and the AI does not like it but they still dont act on it.. even when your ships are in thier space.....i think if you have a ship in someone elses space you have 3-5 turns to get it out of there before they declare war...sorry if my grammer is not correct........but you get what i am saying:)
Well, the current AI is a placeholder, pretty much unchanged from Alpha 0.31. The real AI is under development, in parallel with Combat Viewer.
For now, beating up on the placeholder AI is sufficient for you to test the game mechanisms, e.g. research, build-ups, ship movement, invasions, trade routes, etc. So it's doing its job (for this stage of Beta).
It takes great skill to lose Earth to this AI!
GalCiv is the only 4X that i want to play for one simple reason.. The AI. For me this makes the series. Otherwise i'd be off playing Civ or Endless Space, Sword of the Stars or any other...
there are some threads bout playing yor...
right now, godlike and beginner probably have the sake algorithms with only the bonus/penalty it gets eing the difference
ou are seeing terrans declare war on the yor because +2 diplomacy vrs -2 doesn't take much to start one... It takes a little more to edge past acting on one started though. If the terrans are declaring war on your yor, you probably won't be doing well enough to get attacked fir tens of turns(it more).
-However- yor that survive long enough wtfpwn terrans on influence & more if done right.
Terrans are sort of the tricycle/training wheels race while altarians are the other by virtue of being pretty good at everything. Iridium, drengin, & yor have more narrowly tailored less generic sets & bonuses that require more planning to keep the plates spinning around their sacred cows (crap military?, crap morale, &rocket powered arrow to the knee at turn zero basically). Their strengths lay in the fact that they can provide great journeys loaded with tense/interesting stretches when you play with their weaknesses front & center at the point of your strategic wedge. Their strengths allow that.
The Ai is admitted to be little more than a placeholder right now & rather basic
Yeah the AI right now sucks, it is just doing its basic things. It seems to be the way of Stardock to release the game in chunks. Postponing it until they feel the code is stable and polished enough. I guess eventually there will be one big AI update.
Didn't Paul demonstrate this great skill in a developer feed?
I like how I can rob it in diplomacy. :3
The game is tilted heavily to diplomacy and influence victories. If you keep your head down, don't piss off the AI's and plod along you can beat it almost every time.
