At some point, we would like to do one final mini expansion for the Fallen Enchantress series that includes everything in FE:LH and then some.
A few questions for you guys:
What would you imagine it being called?
Right now, given our traditional naming convention, we'd call it Fallen Enchantress: Ultimate Edition
It would be $19.99 for users who have FE:LH, $39.99 new. Would come out after LH 2.0 so that 2.0's stuff can be part of it.
Features:
Release date would be AFTER Sorcerer King and GalCiv III.
I wish you'd do dynasties as DLC, the rest doesn't seem that appealing to me.
you lost me a bit there.. is this an expansion to fe or fe:lh? do owners of fe (but not fe:lh) get a discount?
Nice! Will 2.0 or this mini-pack backport graphics or/and UI elements from Sorcerer King? This will be a very easy way to make me pay for it (and you more)!
Fallen Enchantress: Ultimate Edition sounds nice and informative, but (I'm sorry, but I cannot restrain myself) Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Elementals sounds even better
But really, Fallen Enchantress: Ultimate Edition is okay. On the other hand I think that some people might be confused if it contains Legendary Heroes or not. Maybe Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes (Ultimate Edition)? Nah...
Yeah, I didn't buy FE, only FE:LH. Will I get a discount too? Never mind, I can't read.
So excited!
You have my full attention.
um...I could write up an essay of suggestions for LH 2.0 and/or BLH. (kinda like a 'vision') Is such a thing welcome? (don't want to step on your creative license)
I don't have budget approval on this so this is merely an internal proposal I'm sharing with you guys.
The FE code-base is on a different path from SK so other than engine backports don't expect to see different graphics or UI backports. They wouldn't work.
I thought diplomacy was going to be overhauled in 2.0?
Personally, I'm not interested in dynasties.
I would like to see the loot system overhauled so that it would be very unlikely to get multiple copies of the same item, especially not one after the other.
Sounds good. Is it possible to have a few more animation packs though for sovereign and or units. The ones that I've seen so far with Sorcerer King look very nice.
What do you mean by "engine backports"? Will we get more efficient engine (less CPU and memory usage)?
In terms of UI I'd just like to see Shafer's button. Could it be done?

If it involves art assets it isn't doable as SK has a different shader system.
Re engine backports, I'd do LH specific optimization but that's a LH 2.0 thing.
I'm probably not going to have enough engineering hours to do a diplomacy overhaul in a free update. Even with the DLC, that's a lot of time.
How about 2 DLC's
Heh. Depends on the doc.
i think a map seeds doc would be the first one To do.
For another 20 dollars, it would have to feature a lot of content for me to buy it. Idk, I might be easier tempted with DLC's.
That being said, here are my interests:
I thought the diplomacy overhaul was going to come with the 2.0 patch.
In any case, what really interest me are the diplomacy overhaul and the dynasties (which I hope will link well together with the diplomacy system).
All the rest are just bonuses which are nice to have but nothing more.
Sounds great. I'd definitely buy it.
Cheers,
Sword
Always happy to see more for FE, mini-expansion, DLC whatever... it's all good.
I think that's fine personally.
Maybe Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes (Ultimate Edition)?
I think that would be ok also.... then people know it's got all the LH stuff in it too, and is not just FE.
I'd buy it without hesitation because I'm such a fan of the game, but for $20 I would think most people would expect a fair bit of new content.
Not real interesting. We already have this to an extent, Amarians can use Soul Spark (lightning), Quendar have Flame Tongue (Fire), Urxen have poison via Poison Vials (Master Assassins trait).
Personally this doesn't interest me. I'm not sure Dynasties really fit in with FE.... have kids and stuff, nah. I'd be concerned it would need a lot of work to get it right... it was obviously removed from FE for a reason. Having said that obviously a lot of folks would like to see it back.
Lots more unit customization items
Meh, not fussed either way on these.
Yes, absolutely... #1 priority. Would prefer it in a 2.0 update but fair enough.
Any of this stuff would be good, particularly quests and events.
What i'd really like to see is basic naval transportation. Probably not going to happen, but anyways.
Oh and a hall of fame.
Will each of the DLC's be revisited prior to the release of BLH?
I wrote a lengthy piece some time ago to which I think would garner BLH a great deal of interest if it were addressed: https://forums.elementalgame.com/452256/page/7/#175
As for other possible ideas for BLH, I'll skip the a-fore-mentioned essay and simply toss in point-form. All of my suggestions can be found here: https://forums.elementalgame.com/452034/page/1/. As before, perhaps some/many/all of these items cannot be addressed because of the time and resources required....but I have not yet been told otherwise yet....so I'll continue to occasionally mention them.
Lastly, I would like to mention the 'polish' of the game as being helpful to its further success. So many questions:
*SNIP OF ONE GIANT TEASE*
This sounds great to me. In short, it would be an expansion pack for both FE and FE:LH owners?
You're looking at Q3 2015, then?
Also, FE: Ultimate is the best way to go. I'm literally frothing at the bit of the idea at greater faction differentiation and faction-specific tech trees.
What would be the chances of seeing some faction-specific quests, too? Maybe not a quest line, but just some quests that are specific to each faction and play in to their back story?
Things I want to see, some of which is probably impractical/ would be a lot of design/balance work.
For faction differentiation:
Promotions would be interesting, esp if they had to be unlocked through tech tree
Maybe different factions could use resources differently, or get benefits at different rates. One faction might not be able to be mounted, but they can use wargs/horses as food
2 new factions (12 is a better number than 10)
Offhand Wielding for Assassins of daggers- make daggers useful
more powerful heroes
towns and conclaves can do walls/forts of their own
New type of special unit: specialists that can be attached to towns to give bonuses. These could be found in the wild kinda like how heroes used to be in WOM. They could have effects like
Administator/Merchant/Researcher- part of the commander skill tree (this would be taken from commanders, who will gain some new stuff)
Blacksmith- allows for weapons to be sharp in town you put him in.
Armorer- allows for better armor
Alchemist- allows for new magic weapon types
Master Teacher- units produced in town gain x skill
Many of the "polish" things listed above need to be done as well.
I'd rather see a sequel in 5 years than an expansion in 2015 or 2016 though. Elemental deserves 64-bit treatment, it feels held back by the current engine.
Fallen Enchantress: Ultimate Edition -> maybe Fallen Enchantress Legendary Heroes - Elemetal Escalation ?
Legendary Heroes: Married with Children
I would like to see an Outpost upgrade that provides defense/defenders. When a mob hits one, you loose not only the outpost, but everything built up around it. I know you can build defenders to guard outposts, but it would be nice if the outpost itself also provided some protection (as an upgrade).
Oh yep forgot about this one... that would be great absolutely, can we pls have this somewhere along the line?
+100
I like the simplicity of an Ultimate Edition. Conveys directly what it's about. It's not a new game, it's a greatly polished final goodbye to FE.
Dynasties IS a diplomacy overhaul, I think. Based on what I have seen in the xml, intermarriages between children, protecting children from harm, etc, affects diplomatic standing (or rather it did in E:WOM).
I'd pay $20 for dynasties alone. Particularly if champions can become spouses, and that affects what the children will grow up to be.
I'd love to see the differentiated tech trees, assuming balance is well considered.
As far as different types of damage differentiating factions, not exciting but I am not opposed. I'd love to see, instead or in addition to that, your faction get influenced positively or negatively depending on the types of cities you conquer. Wouldn't incorporating wraiths into your mancer society cause some issues? Post-conquest racial conflict/integration sounds way more interesting, strategically and for story/flavor.
