This is my first step into the skinning world. I've bought WindowBlinds and it came with skinstudio 8.
I've got my idea for my theme and my graphics programs to edit images.
Where I choke is setting up the images. I wish I had a folder of all the base images used in a basic skin. Then I could just replace the images... Something to just get my foot in the door as it were.
Is there anything like that out there? Surely someone has made a .zip file like this?If not then I guess I'll start making one.
Any help would be awesome.
Kind Regards
MM
Surprised no one has answered this. It's easy.
Open skin studio, click "new skin", select a name and click on "create".
It will automatically create the skin in your windowblinds folder. Just replace with your new images. TA DA!
Actually there are a few answers to his question on another thread he posted yesterday and today.

If you use the diamond WB you can save all those images to start with. If you use the same image sizes you won't have to mess around with settings and paint margins.
There are many images you can make different sizes but doing that requires one to make painting adjustments and other adjustments at times. Best to make a basic WB. That will help you to feel your way around SS somewhat. Than if you want to make images different sizes for certain graphics you will have a better feel for messing around with margins and such. Sometimes its best to mess around to see what changes when you change things. You aren't going to learn what SS can do till you have made several skins and spent a lot of time.
We all welcome new skinners and look forward to you progress. If you have specific question make a thread people will be glad to help when you run into problems.
Wow - thanks for all the help. I've wanted to get into skinning for some time I hope I can live up to some of the awesome artwork you good folks have created so far.
I just went in and checked out what you were talking about with the folders in the windowsblinds folder- wow.. I feel like such a tool for not knowing all that stuff was in there. Yeah that's exactly what I'm after.
Holy smokes!!!365 files to mod. I guess you don't rush these. lolWell I know what I'm doing this weekend.Custom sound effects can be worked into these?

No, you don't want to rush it. Do look at the tutorial from the link above.
When you think you are done use it full time for a couple weeks on your computer. You may be shocked at some things you will find that need fixing. Most important thing is to have fun and enjoy the work you are doing.
