Expand your game with the latest downloadable content pack for Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes. The Leader Pack DLC expands the options players have for the most legendary hero of them all: you.
The Leader Pack adds an all-new sovereign to each of the game’s 10 factions, each of which provide fresh gameplay experiences with new abilities and items. Prove might makes right with the hardy but magically impaired General Tarth, bring death magic to the kingdoms of men with Sanjo of Gilden, or absolve Lord Relias’ mistakes by leading Altar to glory as Shirayn.
Players can also customize their own sovereigns with additional traits and equipment. Treasure Hunters have supernaturally good luck at finding loot, leaders with Lifeblood heal their own wounds with every spell cast, and anyone wielding powerful Ruvennan Bracers is destined for glory on the battlefield with their dramatically boosted combat capabilities.
Key Features
A new sovereign for each faction – Embrace the Quendar’s fiery heritage as Asha Furnaceborn, rewrite history as Shirayn, and more
First-ever monstrous sovereign – The half-spider Renge the Aphotic takes the Wraiths’ spider worship to a whole new level
New items and abilities for kings and queens – Find better loot as a Treasure Hunter or take control of the battlefield with Ruvennan Bracers
New options for custom sovereigns – all of the new abilities and items are available for players to mix and match in creating their own perfect leader
The Leader Pack DLC is available for $4.99 directly through Stardock, from Steam, or from other digital retailers.

Better make Siege Pack DLC. Look how great are sieges in AoWIII!!! But AoW lacks charisma - ugly male heroes and poor unit animations. If you make Siege pack DLC then FELH could be better than AoW in most cases.
Yes, but developers shouldn't rely on the modding community to carry the game.
And that's all fine and good. You may be right. I think a few vocal people are making way more out of this voluntary purchase for a year old game than they should be, but whatever. Maybe it's really upsetting to the fanbase.
It doesn't change my point. This:
is a dumb, wildly over the top statement.
Any serious gamer can think of a dozen or more franchises that have more seriously alienated their customer base than this one measly little DLC has done.
I agree with Kantok on this
No reason in providing deconstructive critisism unless you want SD to alienate customers...which would have lasting effects with future releases like E15 and GalcivIII too mostlikely...
Yea Jshores statement was definitely over the top, but I wanted Kantok to understand where the sentiment was coming from.
Hey all --
First off, I'm sorry some folks find the Leader Pack DLC to be lacking.
Please remember, though, that there are a lot of different kinds of players. What appeals to you may not appeal to them, and vice versa. I personally am a very min-max focused player, always looking for the optimal strategy. My cities look like tentacled abominations, every improvement down in the spot that extends my territory or connects a resource most efficiently, aesthetics be damned. I was honestly shocked that *anybody* cared about the improvement rotation bug, because that's not something I ever touched because it just doesn't matter to me. (I'm not a programmer nor do I assign bugs, so please don't burn me at the stake for that one!)
My point in all this is that DLC is absolutely intended to be a piecemeal approach to content, with things that we don't necessarily think need to be part of the base game or that we flat-out think/know that some players don't want (bunny slippers, anyone?). I understand the frustration at a DLC pack not being what you want, but that doesn't mean it isn't in someone else's wheelhouse (and the numbers we see internally tell us that the Leader Pack is being quite well-received by a great many someones indeed).
Please do continue to share your thoughts about what you want to see in DLC and patches, but I promise you that Stardock is absolutely not trying to milk every cent off you guys with half-assed DLC, or abandoning Legendary Heroes, or anything of the sort. I hope that releasing the sixth major free patch almost a year after the game launched is proof enough of that.
^ I'm fine with that, and I appreciate the continued support, but can you please fix the bugs with Asha and the fact that the new leaders don't represent their appropriate factions when met in game? Also, can we please, PLEASE have the Dead DLC fixed so that the AI knows how to use them? Otherwise, they're sitting ducks and it seems like a rush job/milking ^
Thanks.
Touché. Didn't think someone from SD would take the aggressive bait some others (ie, not me) have left out....but you're response is well thought out and appriciated. Thumbs up
I feel a little on the defensive here as I do not consider my recent posts to be overly critical or deconstructive, yet the '*anybody* cared about the improvement rotation bug' and the 'bunny slippers, anyone?' snipets do lead me to believe some of this is aimed at me...since I've made mention of both in recent threads.

As to DLC05, 'lacking' may even be too harsh a descriptor. 'Oppertunity missed' may be a better phrase to aptly depict the release. My comments on the leaders were made here:

I wish to reinforce that, as NaytchSG point out, from my own little perspective, I do what LH to really suceed.

I most certainly will continue sharing my thoughts. Thank you for the invite.

I'm curious about how the DLC went from Spouses to Leader Pack.
My response wasn't aimed at anyone in particular, I was just pulling some recent examples of things going on in the LH community
The DLC went from Spouses to Leader Pack because Frogboy gets really excited about things and shares them with you guys before they've gone through the actual process of development, heh. Things like that happen *all the time* as ideas are thought up, tested, iterated on, redesigned, and so on during development -- you just generally don't hear about them because studios tend not to announce things until they're pretty well locked down.
I can imagine. It sounds to me like the DLC was more ambitious at the outset and had to be dialed down due to unexpected difficulties, and was wondering if that is so. I know it's painful to have to back down from "promises" in such circumstances, especially if the intentions are good.
It's not really. If you have followed this product from the time when it was announced, you would understand.
The game was initially pitched as Master of Magic 2. Before we got our hands on the beta, we were treated to constant threads and announcements about the amazing things we were going to be able to do in this game. Modders would be able to do nearly anything using python and xml, including even writing our own roguelikes.
The beta for War of Magic was dreadful, and as the release date crept ever closer, we were promised that a behind the scenes day 1 patch was in the works that was going to fix all of our beta problems. The patch wouldn't be included with the physical product because of timing. Voicing concerns on the forum was met with insults from just about anyone. We all wanted to believe in this game, even the people who were concerned about the bugs. We were all starving for a good fantasy TBS.
Release came and the patches did little to alleviate the existing bugs or introduced new issues. Not that it would matter since the game was such a mess design wise. The features were disjointed and there was little to no cohesiveness between the various systems. A lot of the features were innovative but had little to no impact on the game (think building placement, heroes and neutral city-states).
I think this time period did the most damage. The most zealot of supports even started to lose faith, but Frogboy's new promises kept them, and me, going.
At this point, it's only fair to say Stardock made some good moves. Giving us an expansion to make up for the horrible initial product and hiring Kael was the positive to take from this entire roller coaster ride.
They were able to polish this "turd" of a game and Fallen Enchantress pulled the franchise out of disaster into mediocrity. Legendary Heroes took it a step further and has made the game even enjoyable.
But unfortunately, some of the issues are still around from day 1. Those issues include making promises and not keeping them. I don't mean, literally "promising", but rather making threads saying "this is what is coming down the pipeline." The patches often break things that go unfixed for months, the exception being the latest patch (kudos).
So what is the point?
The point is, I have watched this community go from a vibrant positive place with hundreds of people posting every day, excited about their new Master of Magic, to seeing people that were staunch defenders of Stardock actually come to the "dark side" and express concerns. I have watched an excited modding community die overnight once the realization that moddability was abandoned for hard coding, leaving a mess of xml that sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.
For me personally, I went from an excited supporter, drunk on all the promises that had been made to us, to a jaded customer staring at the features on the back of my collector's box, shaking my head, to finally, a person who doesn't believe any announcement on these forums, until I see it come to fruition.
In the end though, my comment wasn't about me. My comment was about watching the people who were more faithful than me, who defended the product against people like me, slowly get wore down like a stone in the river until they become concerned, annoyed and eventually at least cautious.
That is what I meant by this franchise (not just this DLC) alienating a customer base.
I'd like to think my comments are neither dumb or wildly over the top and I hope you can understand the frustration many of us have had through this ride, even if we rarely voice it.
First of all thanks for the response, it was, I think, very helpfull. It did put my mind at ease somewhat.
I dont mind if we talk about ideas that arent eventually finished and in the game, or DLC... as long as somebody says, beforehand, that they are just ideas. When you are expecting a spouses pack and getting a leaders pack, with no proper explanation... its like expecting a very nice car and then getting a very nice bike instead. Sure, the bike in itself has value, but its not what you thought you were getting.By now, Stardock should have learned this lesson and learned it very well.
DLC thats not a worthy or usefull addition to a game can, as far as I am concerned, be tossed into the trash straight away. The DLC's that have been brought out so far are not what I would call "bang for my buck", although I admit that over 25 years of gaming I have become a rather critical customer. Money doesnt grow on trees where I live ( or nobody told me where the tree is) so I am not spending any cash on the DLC's when I can make the stuff myself, and in a surprisingly short amount of time.
Mind you, I have the greatest respect for Stardock in general. I do think you work hard for your customer base... I just think the DLC's for FE are rubbish.
I was disappointed in the quality of the Dead DLC.
I am disappointed in the amount of content in this DLC.
That said, I am not disappointed in LH in general. It's solid and I got my money's worth.
I'm a completest. I tend to buy all DLC for a product if I enjoy it. If I don't, I feel like I'm missing out. This is why I avoid certain games, because I know what they'll do to my wallet.
I just hope E15 is getting sufficient resources to make a good game, what I've seen outta LH recently has made me concerned.
Well, we could pull devs off of making the new game to make DLC I suppose...
The real answer is that Stardock is still a small company, and even though we've been hiring at an absurd pace over the last year we've got two games in full production plus DLC and patches for LH. The last thing *anyone* would ever want would be to compromise the quality of the unannounced fantasy game for any reason. We've already made a lot of hard decisions about scope on that one; believe me when I say that nobody learned lessons from EWOM like Stardock learned lessons from EWOM.
In any case, rest assured that the people who make decisions here (Kael and Frogboy) are reading these threads, and we talk about these things internally *all the time*. Please, tell us what you like and what you don't -- fan feedback is absolutely part of our decision-making process.
Please fix the bugs that have been reported and put more effort into future DLC. If it's a faction DLC - test it to make sure the AI can use it. If it's a leader pack, make stuff we can't do ourselves with mods. We'd definitely ask that future DLC and patches don't introduce more bugs or break features. It's great that you guys are working on GalCiv3 but there are a lot of LH fans who feel like they are a little bit left out in the cold at the moment.
I wouldn't even go that far. I don't mind DLC that doesn't implement C++ changes and could be done by modders, a lot of cool things can be added in that way. What bugged me about the leader pack was the lack of content. What did it really include as new content? 3 new sovereign traits, 2-3 items, and a couple of skins. Where these new items interesting and did they encourage unique play styles or experiences? No, some of them looked cool but that's it. It just wasn't worth the money. A leader pack should have included a dozen new traits and items for customizing sovereiegns. Instead while 2-3 of the new sovereigns were unique others could have been created in game.
I agree with this. Those scope decisions are always painful no matter how you cut it. It just seems like you guys are having an issue getting entry-level folk into your company. I'm critical right now, but I understand the situation Stardock is in. The one thing that would make sense is lowering future DLC prices, but then it might not be worth it to put out the DLC. $5 is a bit high for what you put in the last pack, I thought we were getting more.
I really want you guys to do well, over the last 13 or so years, in terms of total man-hours put into a company's games- you guys come in 2nd to Capcom, and that's only because I'm a SFIV pot monster.
I'll say this- a good number of the new features from the new game- they really sound like they'd make excellent patches or DLC for LH. Not everything can or should be backported, but I can think of a number of things I'd want to be. (Particularly two things- the leaders being individualized, and the reduced customization and increased graphics for normal troops). That said, I suspect we'll get those things in the inevitable sequel that will come around in 5 years, I just hope I'm not too broke to afford games in 5 years.
I am content with the 2-3 items and 3 sovereign traits. Most of the sovereigns seemed to receive something unique, even if it was minor uniqueness. Imo, only thing missing in this area was the addition of 2 new weaknesses. Only having 6 really sucks.
With all of the new sovereign options added, I would have thought this DLC would have also expanded custom sovereign options to reflect this. For example:
- Asha has a cool fire partical effect. Players should be able to add that effect to other custom sovereigns. Also, one or two other partical effects so that players could explore different designs. (Also now modders have an easier time adding in their own)
- Renge has a new spider body. For starters, this body should have included more than just aestetics in the game. Bonuses and penalties should be applied along with a trait icon details what the spider body gives. Players should be able to add this effect to other custom sovereigns. In addition, 2-3 more bodies should have been made available (I gave centaur and naga/medusa as examples before), each having different bonuses and penalties, for players to explore different designs. (Alos now modders have an easier time adding in their own)
- General Tarth has a new Bracers item added to custom sovereign design (this is cool). What about Sanjo? Should he have an item that gives him access to improving his death magic spells made available in the custom design?
For some of these items I'm already seeing the moddign community polish the DLC.....but it really shouldn't be the modders doing this. Shouldn't polish come from the owner of the DLC?
This. Or just dedicate a small team to fix what has already been released and stop making DLC for LH.
The Quest DLC included 5 times the content as the Leader DLC for the same price, enough said.
The skillset to make DLC and the skillset to fix things aren't the same- what you're asking is most likely not possible.
This is why I didn't make a fuss about this.
