I didn't see any need to change this from GC2, any structure you already built is auto-upgraded. And, the old version (fusion reactor/anti-matter reactor) replaced the old with the new in the build list, rather than giving you a choice. Not sure why you would want to build old-style rather than the latest and greatest, and yes, I understand "an old one is better then none at all", if you see the need to keep that in, at least let it auto upgrade, rather than having to go in and choose each structure to upgrade one by one, it could get very tedious when you have a lot of upgrades to do (hell, it gets tedious for me now, ADHD in a 60+ year old, go figure). Well, the few that are included in this version, anyway.

Auto upgrade will defiantly be back, by beta.
What a wonderful use of "defiantly"
I am one who actually does not like auto upgrade of planetary improvements. I wish It could be turned off in GalCiv II , so may I suggest it is optional in GalCiv III?
Some older buildings are more cost effective and cheaper to build. So I often choose to build those when I still have plenty of tiles in my colony.
I agrree with MaxWar. One of galciv3s best features will be customization on the planetary scale.

There are definitely times when you want the "older" version, and not have your Build Queue touched.
Tade Centers vs Banks, and Research Academies vs Neutrality Learning Centers are classic cases. The lower-tech versions are FAR faster to build, and you get the (substantial) benefits much earlier.
I'd often build a bunch of Trade Centers, then wait to upgrade them to Stock Exchanges, and forgo Banks entirely, because they (banks) were simply too expensive in terms of build time (70 for a TC, 120 for a SE, and 200(!) for a Bank?). In the case of the NLC, I'd ALWAYS build a Research Academy first, then, after it was complete, upgrade it to a NLC.
Overall, I wish there would be a button on each Planet screen that is labled "UPGRADE!", which would then auto-upgrade all buildings in the queue to their newest version, PLUS add to the queue the proper upgrades for existing structures.
Otherwise, I'm NOT a fan of auto-upgrades.
I just want it to be optional. Not forced like in galciv 2.
Auto-upgrade can be turned off in GalCiv 2. However, you can only do it per planet. Which can make it quite a chore, if you're playing with a lot of habitable worlds.
I'd like if higher-tech options were more cost effective than their predecessors.
No more Industrial Sectors, Banks or NLC's please
IIRC Frogboy said he didn't like the way Galci2 improvements got more expensive to build, and would like to change it.
(I can't remember where I read this. Gaunathor?)
I don't remember such a post, but that doesn't mean anything.
If you don't remember such a post, then I must be imagining it
Not really. It's entirely possible, that I just forgot about it. Believe it or not, but that happened before. Several times in fact.
I think you are trying to pull us an april's fool here. You? Forgetting a Post? Impossibru!!
