So I have spent a lot of time reading through the bug and crash posts identified by us Alpha, and for the most part, have experienced similar if not the same problems.
Seems like a few days in, it would be nice to see a new developer post on the home page regarding confirmation that they have "recieved" our messages, and what is being worked on now. Although I do not mind forking out the $99 for GC3 founder benefits, it would be nice to know that our feedback is making a difference to the development process, and not just a "bone" they threw out to pull in a few more bucks.
Thoughts?
It's the weekend. Paul has been on the Steam forums but there's a lot less there to review.
It's the weekend. As a general rule they lurk the forums more than reply, but they do read and at times do signify that they have read some of the posts. Whether they read all of them is a different story.
Granted it's the weekend, and yes I have seen a few comments from the development team regarding a couple posts. However, it seems like the Alpha was thrown out without much direction as far as a structured way in which Alpha player feedback is collected. Seeing as how the Alpha was released prior to Friday, a pre-weekend update regarding when and how to properly submit feedback, bugs, errors, ect., would have went a long way. Then again, I have been in the Army now for 11+ years, and find things that are 100% structured more my style, so this could just be me.
At ease soldier!
I kind of agree with you too (being a detail person that I am) but then I'm sure there is merit in a free flow of ideas too... let's see what Monday brings from the dev team...
Hehe, professionaly i often guide UAT. (I know one would expect more detailed reports from me.. )
I pity the guys having to sort the mess of all our posts and making sure they dont get stuf double. But I would like to see is a list of know issues and feedback reported by the alpha testers.
1 list to check if it has been reported is much easier then having to read all the posts. Thats your job (this time)
Lord Chess, you are right! Still very early, and Monday may bring some good info from the dev team regarding what has been an extensive Alpha test initial weekend from some very dedicated individuals. The amount of play testing and reporting that has been done even in the last few days has been stellar! I would just hate to see it not be used to its full potential.Just my own brain storming here, but seems with so many dedicated fans hard at work on this project, it would make sense for a handful of Alpha testing volunteers, with adequate communication skills, be selected to dive through the forums identifying bugs and feedback that can be recreated, and then posted on a "sticky" thread on the forums letting us all know that certain things have been identified, alleviating multiple posts regarding the same bugs and problems.Interactive feedback that is recognized with development team responses is what will make this game truly stand out from the MANY Steam alphas and betas that are dumped on the market, with the only intention of earning a few extra dollars and cents, and will go a long ways in eliminating Steam feedback haters that just don't get why the $99 Founders edition is such an amazing thing!
@ Spaceballs-TK421 +1
Through structure comes proper progress, unless you consider the wonderful randomness and perceived chaos of genetic mutations in evolution
Hmm if stardock is ok with it we could simply set up a bug report system in google drive:
Something like:

Suggestions: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Yb--4KYoHHIr87XWqwc4vs3bNXGH_3JSuXQ1eWvh9bQ/viewform
results:

Suggestions list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Al1RtrsasRTBdFRVNFJSSGp5V1BWVC0yOFpYQ29ETEE&usp=sharing
NOTE: for some reason the 2 forms keep getting mixed up so the results overviews are corrupted at this moment. these are simply per example.
the forms are hostable on forums. but i think they turned of the use of HTML on these forums
<<double post>>
Hey, sorry i have been MIA, I wanted to get as many questions answered over on the steam forums, as possible, since players there tend to be a bit less experienced with GC2. I will try and catch up on the post here ASAP.
Would it be easier if we posted on the steam forums instead of here for you? I know sifting through both places can probably be tiresome (unless you've got some help)
Post were you are most comfortable, you will get more feedback from fans and founders here i would imagine. Ill try and make sure i make the rounds at least once a day.
