edit 9 March 2015 FYI -Rohin placed info about mod for Bloodline: Bloodlines Antitribu. I don't know anything about mod. Yet.
I purchased downloaded Vampire bloodlines from Steam. The game runs fine, except that the edges (top/bottom/sides) are off the screen. I have used the Nvidia control panel to move and center the display so that there are black edges all around where the hdtv doesn't display anything. I thought this would reveal the off the edges part of the game window. Desktop is fine. Any advice from gurus on fixing this?
Win7 home prem, i7 960@3.2GHz, 11.99GB usable RAM, 1920x1080, 60 Mhz, 335.23 driver (only one newer - like it makes a dif on an old game like Bloodlines).
edit: installed with most recent unofficial patch,(( http://www.patches-scrolls.de/ )), which includes the official patch v1.2 (latest/final version).
edit: finally got the game to run via steam with the unofficial patch. Tip, ignore all the instructions to modify the loading exec file.
Such a long time since I played it, should really finish a Malkavian playthrough someday. The only idea I have is to see if any of the player created patches might help.
Dunno about the screen, but did you download the user created patch?
Isnt this the sadest case of an awesome game being botched for the worst reasons or what.
R.I.P Troïka.
Are you using the unofficial patch? It is pretty much mandatory I believe.
UPDATE: installed with most recent unofficial patch, (( http://www.patches-scrolls.de/ )) which includes the official patch v1.2 (latest/final version).
I have tried playing with the sides cut off, but I have no idea how much blood, etc is in the columns on both sides of screen.
Ok, I scoured all the comments/threads on Steam. Seems many, many people can't get the game to run properly with steam. Ditching steam - game is abandoned-ware anyway. I found a new site, Tess...yada and it has a different patch family. We will see.
The unofficial patch is more like a mod and not the developers vision.
It was originally just fixing bugs and putting things in the developers had setup to put in. Now its going past that which is a bit disappointing, but whatever, the people who created the patch did a great job am hugely pleased they did. : )
Yes, I liked the changes, except for cop cars all over the place. But can't play game via steam because the sides are cut off. arg I end up going feral becuase i can't see blood supply or health at all. playing blind.
I play on steam and don't have that problem at all.
@Xia May I ask basic sys specs, os, etc.? Have you modded (truePatch or unofficial patch)? Oh, did you add riding bears for your vamp? j/k
plain, right out of steam, has sides and top/bottom cut off. resizing via nvivia ctrl panel not help. I'm just lucky... lol.
The game won't even start on win 7 without the unofficial patch.
Vista and Windows 7 with unofficial patch. Unofficial, but not unofficial plus, if that matters. My computers are old, my desktop is Vista 32 bit with 4 gb ram and my laptop is windows 7 64 bit.
I just re-downloaded it on Steam and the unofficial patch 8.9 on my windows 7 64bit computer, and it's working fine. Make sure you check the widescreen button under the options.
Cool Xia, which options, besides 'widescreen' did you check on wesp's unofficial patch. thanks !
This last download, I checked everything.
Got it running! Cool
I wish I could just go into "hermit mode" for 5-7 days, with a stash of junk food, and indulge in that game again.
Remember the Deb of night? That did a great deal to add atmosphere to the game.
It's one of the best games of all time. The "Deb of night" stuff and the news is pretty cool. And playing it a second time as a Malkavian makes it even better.
I played this game only once, 4-5 years ago maybe. Isnt this game supported by a diehard community of fans pumping out patches and mods? As it improved significantly with time?
Have you guys heard about the mythical World of Darkness MMORPG that might never come out? It makes my heart ache.
Yeah. I occasionally check out planet vampire and the news is always obfuscated(hah!) by the developers. Its like it keeps going, but with a small team. And going and going and they don't say very much. Frustrating.
Is it in Malk-speak?
Heh, no just vague.
Well, the World of Darkness MMO has finally received the Final Death: http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/04/14/world-of-darkness-cancelled-by-ccp/
