The 'Thanks for participating...' text never goes away and stays on top of everything else.
When I open the Option dialog its text also stays on the screen after I close it.
All the above text never seem to get 'erased' and stays on top of everything else.
In a nutshell: completely unplayable for me in any kind of way...
Yeah I am getting the same problem the text does not want to go away.
Try rebooting your comptuer
I'm also getting this problem. Here are my laptop's specs:
Resolution: 1366x768
Processor: Intel i3-3110M (2.4 GHz)
RAM: 4gb
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4000
Also getting the same error, I encountered the "hang up" on the font selection, I got past it by Ctrl+Alt+Delete-ing, I simply opened the task manger and suddenly my computer realized that the font option was frozen and I told the computer to close it... could this by why all the words aren't working right?
Update, my search for the gc3_font_setup just found it, inside of my steam files. Maybe that will fix it, if not, reboot time....
Alright, well, nothing fixed it, so time for bed... Not sure how I could report this or not. Maybe I need to update my video card driver, for all I know, but it's too late to look into that now.... I can always try my desktop and see how that works, too.... i want to give feedback on lots of things, not just one graphical glitch!
Ctrl-Alt-Delete, task manager. If it does not try and close it, go to processes and look for the games EXE file and end process.
I can not tell you how many times I have had to do this for Steam games, seems to be an issue with launching via steam, but then it is an easy fix.
You guys should post screenshots of your wonderful Alpha issues.
You are absolutely right. Enjoy: http://okonobo.livedrive.com/item/aab78c1b9933482588bea258fc53c0ee
Laptop is an HP Folio 9470m (Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000). More system info available on request.
Well, nothing I could do fixed it on my laptop, but I JUST finished getting the game onto my desktop... and no infinite duration text error! Wish me luck all!
1) Plase post your specs from Steam-Help-System Information
2) If you're running Intel GPUs, you should update your drivers. I have an ultrabook with an HD4400 with no problems. So it's likely a driver problem especially since most people never bother to update their Intel GPU drivers. Go to intel.com or to your laptop manufacturer for the latest Intel GPU drivers!
3) try rebooting your computer
Is it only on Intel platform?
There have been many other posts of similar problems that were solved by upgrading graphics drivers, sometimes to a beta level driver.
I have solved this issue. It was indeed a Graphics Driver as you guys suggested.
For anyone else having trouble with their Intel HD Graphics 4000, here is a link to the driver page.
If you run the appropriate driver install and it gives you a message saying "The driver installed is not validated for this computer..." then you need to open the Device Manager and uninstall your current graphics driver (make sure to delete the files by checking the box that comes up when you uninstall). After that, restart your computer and run the driver install again. It should install properly. After restarting again, the text problem should be no more.
Thanks for the suggestions in this topic, time for me to play the Alpha.
Hmm, I'll try updating the drivers soon, thanks for the advice guys!
Thanks for posting this. I was having the same problem with trying to play the Alpha on my laptop and the new driver installation was giving me a similar message. This solution worked for me and now the Alpha text is working well. Can't wait to dive in and get playing!
