So, yeah, backing an unreleased game; I have no idea what to expect in terms of that. I have, however, done it twice today (Star Citizen as well,(and, yes, for those of you over on their forum, this is basically the same post I made there;)))I recently had the rather ill-tasting experience of buying X Rebirth, which was supposed to be an actual released game but turned out to be more like one of these things, so I decided to jump in on some stuff that was being honest about what people were paying for.I played (and still play on a regular basis) GalCiv II and I wouldn't be surprised if I logged close to a thousand hours over the years, so I'm pretty excited about this game.Obviously this forum (and, along with it, the discussions, ideas and arguments) has been going on for quite a while and I've a great deal of catching up to do, and I'll be doing that, but in the meantime I'm just asking if you can fill my brain with all the things with which it need to be filled.(Not sure if I've put this post in the right place, so feel free to tell me and shift it to wherever it would better fit.)Anyway, yeah, hi. What happens?Nick
I think your best bet is to start with three of the six tabs at the very top of any of these threads; "Game", "Databanks", and "Journals". The FAQs in "Game" are informative.
And welcome to the community.
Thanks I'll have a peruse the very moment I'm not at stupid work all day...
Well from the sound of it it sounds like your at the right place unless your not planning to play galactic civilizations 3 then you should probably go to galactic civilization 2 forums. Welcome to this site.
We are X-rebith pre-order brothers, eh?
Welcome to the club.
Lol, thanks
Cheers. I'm just looking forward to a new 4x space game I can actually play without becoming sad :-/
Hey, don't become too sad. Being sad is not becoming.
I mean X-Rebirth is typical Egosoft (and Egosoft is German studio) game - meaning full of bugs. Moreover, game was 7 years in development, thus they had at least twice more time to add... right - MORE BUGS! So if their previous titles required 3-4 months to be fixed, I wonder if they'll need 6-8 months this time, or they'll manage to restore it to working conditions to a time when Sochi Olympics are going to end? Judging by their pace, I'd say 8 months it is.
Still, I had my fun with it, even if I had to alter my save to move further through plot, but hey, I "only delayed them", so it's fine, I guess. Not for 50 Euros in current state, of course.
Oh, I'm certain they'll have a damn good crack at fixing it. They did a great job with the last few.
I'm all about the hope.
Likewise, even if I can't get rid of "hope is the first step on the road to disappointment"...
I do dislike lack of communication, but I'd prefer "less talk more work" approach. So as long as they really working on new patches, I'll live without their lively personalities.
Alpha is tentatively due in March, there will be a flood of information (and videos most likely) once we get our hands on that!
I have a sneaking suspicion you may be right...
True enough. Hey, you never know, we may end up with a skinful of decent space games all at once.
And drown in sea of mediocrity, should the hype backfire again? It's very slippery path, and I don't even mean cases like Aliens, or, heh, X-Rebirth release for newcomers . I, for one, wish them all to succeed, because I like genre, but it's hard to believe. May I be wrong and we end with a lot of awesome games, forcing us to forget about sleep and/or social life. What is social life anyway?
Yeah, they could all be awful, but that's the risk you take, I suppose.
But I agree, here's to them all knocking it out of the park.
Now that I've reawakened a two month old thread, I shall go and hang my head in shame somewhere.
Shame on you! How dare you necro a thread less than a month old!
:3
Anyhows, welcome, but please remember we have a fraternization policy. I like to call it the 'watch where you stick yo-dick' policy. Any unauthorized inter-founder breeding is strictly prohibited!
I remember on Galactic civilizations 2 forums that I answered a two year old new be question. I think that is a little more impressive.
It was mainly because there had been replies that I hadn't seen. I've been lost in a world of DayZ the last couple of months but, with the Alpha so close, I'm back and ready to whine about things that don't work.
I'll stop now; I'm sure that there are actual current discussions that could use some attention.
