I just finally caved and got Dom 3 this spring. Its fantastic. Now I find that Dom 4 in almost upon us. It rather über I would say.

Curious as to the difference between Dom 2/3 and Dom 4. I belonged to the minority which did not see much of a difference between 2 and 3 (despite the ages), but I'd be willing to give it a shot. Reading this here

doesn't make me all that terribly excited. I've never actually finished a game of Dom3 (just got too bogged down by the late game), although I have enjoyed the starts of many games.
IF the (sadly, quite poor) AI is actually improved substantially, however, I'd be a fan!!
It seems to be an evolution where everything is just a little bit better. No reinventing the game here. I am happy with that. In a perfect world they would go kickstarter, get $500 000 and put it all into graphics
Thank you for the heads up. I just wasted ~$30 (I know this game will kick my butt ).
Yup. No interface or playability improvements? I could care less about extra spells, there is enough of them. Just fix that damn interface. And make endgame at least remotely playable.
P.S. And it costs more than other recent releases like EU4 or TW:Rome II (at least on Steam in my region)? For an expansion (engine seems to be the same)? Meh.
I do buy more strategy games than i really play for any significant amount of time, just to support the genre, but Illwinter really should think about improving the quality of their releases. As far as things go, i think they're unworthy of my suppport.
Conquest of Elysium 3 was even worse than Dominions 3, game balance was completely out of whack, one of the worst of what i saw in last 10 years in strategy games.
And now they ignore the most blatant flaws of Dominions 3 and re-release it as Dominions 4?
@Ellestar
1. 21 Euro is way less than than EU4 and TW:Rome II (I am in Norway)
2. The interface is improved quite a bit ( watch the vids on youtube)
3. Endgame performance is greatly improved they say. If you think about removing mircomanagement then thats another story
Seems like more of a 3.1 update than a 4.0 release to me.
Honestly, it seems like a fine new iteration and I would buy it on it's own merits, even if the price point is a bit high. However I've heard too many bad things about their DRM, with people having to buy the game three times because they get locked out of it erroneously detected as pirates, and the company ignoring emails about it. As much as I admire the design goals of the game and how they go about it, I can't justify giving money to a company like that.
that's why we wait for Steam release.
similčar to Distant world. Excellent game, I'll wait it on steam...and panzer command etc.
From the website:
AI improvements, too. Which were dearly needed. You can read about what has changed, on their site:

I'll happily support these guys.
My understanding (please confirm for yourself though) is that if/when it is released on Steam, Desura will issue you a Steam key.
Release date has been pushed back to Sept 28th.
