Situation: In midst of a war. At start of war 3 enemy caravans were in my territory, far from any army units. Each turn, I start cycling thru list of enemies, to see if anything important. "The dang caravans again, never mind".
Oops - one turn, there was an enemy army I had not noticed, that came in from a different side than I expected. They took out the nearest city.
If the caravans were listed last, then I would simply stop cycling thru enemies when I got to them. Knowing I hadn't missed anything important.
Even better, just take them off the list completely. They are entirely useless in terms of gameplay, and don't need to exist on the map at all. They only serve to get in the way.
Yesterday, Carrodus took a city of mine. I killed his armies and retook my cities. On the tile next to the city the turn I took it back, there were 2 caravans and an archer unit of his. I could not kill the archer unit because I couldn't attack through 2 caravans, and ended up having to sit with my army in my city for 3 turns until the caravans decided to move out of the way, allowing me to finally kill the archer unit and go on my way.
Supremely annoying.
Caravans are a horribly, thought out design.
Caravans are leftovers from the first game. They need to be removed asap.
I think it might be a significant code effort to get rid of caravans at this point, but I do agree with the original post, it would be great if they were either skipped over in the enemies in your territory list, or at least shown last.
