I think he was asking if it was legal to actually publish it. Writing it is sorta like fanfiction. As long as you don't profit from it. It's fine.

Okay, well, if no one else is going to say it, I think that this is great. Not only for the Sins community, but this is just a cool story that really, truly ties into the story of Sins of a Solar Empire. Every detail is so grounded in the fiction of the universe of Sins - I am very and truly impressed.

I really want to know what happens next. You could use a bit of an editor (not to take things out, but to fix things up and make it more readable in certain areas), and if I had the time I would volunteer to do it myself because I enjoyed reading this so much. But you did write that this was only the rough draft. Good job.

Please, please, please make a Chapter 2.

I'll be the bitch who points out that no matter how good your fan-fic is, you can't sell it without IC's permission... try to get their permission  

"home" planet means jack in this game, you've got a new home every map.  "home" can just mean HQ and 'earth', if it isn't a stinking wreck of a planet, then it's probably a 'park' or museum.  think distant future, soft-scifi instead of hard and do well with character evolution.  bad scifi focuses on the tech, good on the people.

And I just read Chapter 2. I have had a long week, and so I was glad I got to relax tonight and read your story. I must say, it is progressing nicely. Actually, more than nicely. I love reading your Sins book, and once I start reading a chapter I can't stop. I wonder if Yarlen or any of the other Sins devs have been reading it.

This latest chapter reminded me of what my perfect Star Wars Battlefront 2 space battle would have been. They never turned out as awesome as this, and I think that gain you hit the Sins atmosphere like a nail on the head. You simply know the game - when I was reading and you said that phase missiles bypass shields because they go into phase space to jump through them, I was like "Whoa. That makes sense." I don't know if you sourced this from the game's lore or simply made it up, but it fits perfectly. And even though most of the text is not about the characters, what is there in terms of dialogue is good.

It's not my job to be your fan club, but this is some good stuff. I felt bad for Alex. He died so fast! Good luck writing your Chapter 3 - I want to see where the story will go. You could just have everyone sitting around, partying at the repair dock when the Vasari show up and kill Tar 'uul in the middle of a botched rescue attempt to "protect potentially dangerous knowledge". Actually, nevermind. Will the Advent ever make an appearance or is this too early in the war for that? If you keep writing these chapters, could the schism between the Loyalist and Rebel factions become evident?

I would love to see what you can come up with if you still have the passion and willpower to write more.

Chapter 3 finally done, it is a rough draft so there will be some little changes, enjoy! I started Chpater 4 and its going to be the best chapter yet!

A few things I noticed:

• It occured to me, that using escape pods on a starbase about to use Big Red Button may not be viable... an explosion powerful enough to wipe out fleets of heavily armored warships would probably instantly pulverise any escape pods. So you might maybe consider that the crew aboard the starbase does resign to its fate, instead of heroically standing with their commander. I mean something like "The escape pods wont help us, sir, so we will try to make every shot count".

• Are you considering adding Advent to the fray sooner or later? Would be quite interesting to read. How do the Vasari see the Advent? How do Advent see Vasari?

I have been in Canada for a week without Internet access, but now that I'm back and have read Chapter 4, I am delighted to say that your story just keeps getting better and better. Tar'uul's speech is particularly notable for its awesomeness.

I also thought you did a rather nice job with the Advent and Vasari's relationship. I can't wait for the ultimate showdown that is coming at the Gateway. Well, I suppose I will have to wait. Just, thank you for making this.

The surface area that will receive the radiated energy from the explosion is very small.  Since the distance to the center of the explosion is the most important aspect in this system in terms of preventing damage(a squared function), the escape pods would need decent acceleration capability.  

Since these are escape pods, they would not doubt be designed to travel quickly to the safe point and have a well known minimum distance safety distance because even in science fiction there is math.  Shielding on the rear would help reduce this safety range, as would the correct navigation software.

The developers are also aware of this concept and that is how/why the starbases originally didn't destroy fighters/bombers. 

That being said, after the change it still makes sense, as these fighters/bombers are still huge compared to a small tin can with basic life support.  As long as it is elongated and is designed to have a rear shield and shows a small surface area towards the blast it could survive a thermonuclear blast(or greater) easily enough, as long as it gets far enough away from the blast.

Now I just need to read this story, looking forward to it.
