I like the current champion injury-death system. But wouldn't it be interesting if the assassin path had a high-level ability that allowed them to do a "killing strike?" It could have a high cooldown to prevent spamming, but if it hit it caused perma death on champions (not sovereigns).
The Path of the assassin is good, but seems like it needs some extra differentiation (to me).
The problem I see with this is if Altar's twenty henchmen all pick this ability...but that's more a problem with henchmen than this idea.
Its been mentioned before and its on my wishlist too. I think someone made a mode that adds possibility for a champion to die after a number of lost battles but not sure
I do agree the assassin could use some cooling up (more abilities is always fun), I don't personally see the fun part of this suggestion.Permadeath is... "ok", permadeath from only assassins are sad... IMO.I would rather see an ability that made an attack that was a guaranteed crit, or something like that.

People under 35 have never been exposed to the "3 chances/lives and your dead" from the 80's arcade era.
They've grown up with games where you just loose points when beaten, but your character/avatar never actually dies, so they just can't wrap their heads around the concept of perma-death.
I'm wondering if there are players out there whose sov or champ has ever suffered three broken knee injuries.
I would agree with perma death in general for leaders but not with the game having no retreat in tactical combat.It is bad enough losing elite troops when you make a mistake.
How open minded... No I have played lots of 1 or 3 chances and you're dead, and have to start from scratch games, and I don't like them for the same reason...

The problem is (XML wise) I don't think there's a way to only target a non-sovereign champion, because the sovereign is a type of champion.

for sovereign to die horribly like that the chance can be insignificant.
For other champs it can be a possibility.
and for assasin with specific skillset it can be a good increase in chance of permadeath.
I would just make it a high level (15+) skill at the end of a long ability tree.
Can't really do much about 'chance' at this point. Hopefully in LH melee skills will at least work like a melee attack.
Conquest of Elysium has hero permadeath i wouldn't mind a mode for it.
I don't think it can universally modded into the game at this point. the main reason it's not there is because the AI wouldn't be able to deal with it very well.
I dont mind champion permadeath, but if they implement that, I sooooo want to get dynasties back! I REALLY miss them! I liked the idea of a wife champion, and potential offsprings to become champions, or "sacrificed" in diplomacy.

I personally don't like it, but I have no problem with it being made an optional feature, since others want it.
So... champion death seems to be in the game now - at least in the LH Beta. Was this in a changelog that I missed? It was a nasty surprise! I was so shocked that I flicked through to see what it meant without taking a screenshot, and *poof* - he had vanished to the land of wind and ghosts, along with all the gear he was carrying.
Under injuries, it listed "killed" as if he was troops rather than a champion. I refought the battle a few times, and each time he took an injury as normal, so I have no idea whether to report as a bug under LH support or if this is a risk now.

Hmm that may have been a bug but you could add in weaknesses that simulate the behavior, such that a injury that says death by bleeding out and have it have the negative stat modifier of -1000 hp such that whoever gets it is effectively killed. Not sure how the game engine would react to that one though.
