well since they wiont update or release anything about gc3 other company's have come up with there own games equally as good 3 sofar and a fourth coming in april 3 are indie games endless space,AI Fleet war,Armada 2526,and the best for last star drive.Check them all out on steam you'll be glad you did there all really good and equal gc2.
Start Drive looks ok but it also looks real time, which blows since turn based is more enjoyable.
It also appears to be steam only and I'm really, really sick of that crap. I've fallen out of love with steam and just won't buy games if they're steam only. Screw valve - who have evolved into a company that exists to suck money out of both developers and gamers.
As it is still in beta and not yet released I would be wary of drawing any conclusions, Legends of Pegasus, SOTS 2 etc. should be proof enough of this. Lets see what shape it is in, how players are finding the AI etc. say six or so months after it has been released before deleting GCII from our hard drives
There can only be Gal Civ!
No sir it has not. I've played said games you mention and honestly None of them even come close to compairing to galciv2 really in any way at all. Esp armada that game is a major crock-o-sheet. And all of them have Aweful AI compaired to galciv2 except for fleet war but it is rts and 2d at that... But even then its AI is only on par with sins but frankly sins is a better game, with better graphics. Really man there still is no other tbs that can even come close to compairing to galciv2.
i will probably try StarDrive, but the japanese bear shogun really turns me off. i would really prefer those aliens don't mimic any earth cultures, and game that mimics earth cultures in obvious way is just simply not fun. like the Naga Race in Might and Magic Hero VI. i liked it before naga campaign, then hating it after.
I hate when people try to compare RTS games to TBS games. In my mind there is no comparison. Totally different styles of gameplay. Might as well be comparing FPS to TBS.....
StarDrive & Sins of a Solar Empire & games like that simply cant be compared to GCII in my mind......
But you don't mind the evil squirrels and teddy bears in GalCiv2, right? ....
