Salted pork is a create, cheap item to use to heal your champs instead of going Life tree..but pork isnt kosher/Halal and thus I cant use it. Please change this so the items are culturally acceptable to every player. THanks
you are not suppose to eat unleavned bread except during passover..even though it makes excellent trail grub and french toast. Can we all agree that the devs should add salted meat and some everlasting vegetable of unknown origin as early healing items? And keep salted pork
But Hindus and Vegetarians should be thrown under the bus? Or at least the fictional digital ones? Ya this is such a weird and illogical post he must be trolling.
Besides simply changing the name to meat doesn't mean it isn't pork. In real life could you eat the meat if you didn't know what type it was?
It's true, it's ancient and hidden lore (GalCiv2) that the world of Altaria (elemental) doesn't have animals with hair, only the Altarians have hair. What their versions of bears and wolves have...who knows...
I've got it. Please remove all monsters and all items from this game except the lavender pony. Nobody is offended by lavender ponies.
Oh my, have we fed this troll well, or what?
Now doesn't that throw a wrench into things. He might be changing the label in an XML file, but the item itself is still salted pork for all intents and purposes.
Here's a sample of native language of Elemental (at least, the Amarian related people):
Once you understand that everything in the game is a translation, you can choose to have your characters eat whatever they'd like. They're not literally pigs or cows or fish.
This has got to be a joke right .....Please say it is. If not then I must remind you that this is a video game not real life. You are not eating the Salted pork your Champ and Sorviegn pixls are (well they are eating Salted pixel pork) And remember pork is not a bad word in cultures that are forbidden to eat it. Nothing in the culture/ Religion that some are from say that you cannot read or say the word Pork.
There is too much Political Correctness in the world, we certainly don't need more. Besides you can edit it out or change the name if you want.
I can't speak for everyone, but I don't have a problem with this. If anything, I welcome things that add variety to the game.
Mmm, I wonder how many posters on this thread consider themselves tolerant.
The OP has an issue with the game having pork items. Heavenfall was kind enough to provide a reasonable solution to the problem. The OP can now make the salted pork, salted lamb, peanuts, or whatever. I would have expected the tolerant to leave it at that and respect another’s obviously deeply held beliefs. Instead we have 3 pages of folks ridiculing if not berating another for views they don't share.
Maybe Websters needs to update the definition of tolerance, it obviously doesn't mean what it used to.
Oh, that's some nasty Amarian smut there Frogboy, I don't believe Procipinee would do something like that, or at least I hope she would shower and brush her teeth afterward.
No, if you want to change your game then you can easily do so (as can anyone else that wishes to).
I would personally find it rather offensive if I had to add religious patches to my game.
The real problem is that too many people think that "tolerance" is synonymous with "acceptance". If I am expected to tolerate his ridiculous opinion then the turnabout is that he should tolerate the fact that I think his opinion is ridiculous. You see how this works? I tolerate his opinion, but I do not accept it.
FYI... as soon as somebody suggests that someone else is not being tolerant, they themselves have not been tolerant. Funny how that word works.
Frogboy, please add True pork to the game as I cannot eat fake salted pork.
Tolerance is overrated. I think the original poster is either a troll, or a moron, or a hypocrite (in order of decreasing probability). I see no reason to tolerate any of these.
I truly do not think there is a fourth option for him/her.
And from his perspective, it may be your opinion he/she considers ridiculous. So no, I don't see how this works, it seems an endless circle to me.
It's more about respecting for one another imo. Cultural differences aren't right or wrong, just different. Those differences can be appreciated and even accepted regardless of how ridiculous they might seem to me.
Halal is for muslims. Kosher is for jews. I have a hard time believing you are BOTH COMBINED.
Also, Halal and Kosher forbid you from eating pork but not a character in a video game eating simulated pork.
PS. I think it should be changed from pork into a healing potion. Its really stupid to scarf down food between swings mid battle to heal my wounds.
We;'re not necessarily berating him/her. If they don;t want to eat pork or can't, then great. but to demand that there be no salted pork in a GAME because of that? That's the ridiculous part.
I have never used any of the food or potions in the game. Even back in the WOM days. I'd just sell it. The only healing I used was from spells. So you don't really need to use Salted Pork to begin with.
None of these three things are mutually exclusive either.
Oh boy if the Op finds this stuff disturbing just wait till he sees my legions of scantily clad(As much as you can in this game) wraith babes weilding ice swords Oh and lets not talk about slavery...
I think its funny No need to change it.
I have arachnophobia... you know what ya gotta do frogboy
Well I just finished a game as Magnar. I enslaved entire nations and on several occassions I was feeling weak so I murdered a whole punch of slaves to make myself feel better. Then, one of my Champions, after several battles was not feeling good--in fact he was making everyone around him sick, but since he had access to earth magic (he must have been a druid or something). So I killed him too, but first I consumed his essence so I would have access to his druid skills.
I think eating salted pork is the least of my worries.
I'm checking with the UN right now for any possibe violation of rights (of any kind) done by anything in the game to any other thing in the game. Still on hold..............
