So I uninstalled the beta, which I got through Stardock Central, and downloaded the full version. Everytime I want to install the full version it demands that I uninstall the beta. But it's gone. Nothing left. The installation doesn't care and will refuse to continue. I manually deleted every trace file, ran registry cleaner, and prayed to the Blood God. No idea.
Here's the error message:
"The source installation package for the product Elemental: Fallen Enchantress is out of sync with the client package. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package 'setup.msi'."
Followed by:
"Unable to uninstall old version of Elemental: Fallen Enchantress. Please uninstall it yourself using Control Panel Add-Remove Programs before attempting to install this product. Fatal error during installation"
Try to delete the Fallen Enchantress directories under \users\<your_username>\Documents\My Games\Fallen Enchantress
I had multiple numbered dirs, deleted them all.
If that does not help, scour and purge the registry for any remaining straglers.
If that does not work, wipe your Windows installation clean and install the game on a clean system. Accidentally, that's exactly what I did
If you're unable to get it to work, please contact support@stardock.com before going so far as reformatting your machine.
Found a registry entry, got rid of it and now I'm good to go! Thanks
For the kids at home, and all that, which registry entry was it?
Sorry for the late reply. I literally just opened up regedit, ctrl + f "fallen enchantress" and deleted the folder. It was just a long string of {code} telling the OS where the game is installed.
I get the same error messge can someone post the registry settings that need to be edited please.
I think the one you're looking for is this:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\F8E0573777207FE4DA0977325B0C8A8B
i can confirm that this solves the problem. at least it did for me.
