I've played a few games of Rebelllion yesterday. Game is still fundamentally broken. Issues like Wail are fairly easy to fix, biggest problem in my opinion are titans.
Why titans ruin the gameplay:
Fixes:
It's been said a million times... but since player count is now down to ~100 from 300 during peak hours, it clearly wasn't said enough.
PS: please don't paste guy beating the dead horse pic.
I'm quite new, granted...
That said, it seems the easiest and best thing to do is to simply double, triple or quadruple the amount of experience Titans need to level up.
Again, although I am new I do have one friend who has played SoaSE for a while now. He enjoys 30-50 hour long games against the AI. Having Titans require that 3-4 times the amount of time to level up would still grant people like him the chance to run around with a God-mode ship but it would make high-level titan abilities pretty much non-existent in multiplayer unless the players were intentionally trying to have a very long game.
I think the lvl 1-3 titans are very worthwhile and not OP for the cost. Tripling the amount of experience that they require to level would not only be super-easy to implement, but it would also solve all the problems being stated here.
I haven't played any of the online play.. mostly single player and Lan... so, please... be gentle...
This WILL be a development cost, but it may be a longer term winner in the overall game franchise and pull in more possible players and reignite the passion to long-time players that may have felt it became stale...
Add a new faction...
With this, not only do we have the option of a completely new race and possibilities to play with.. but it would offer a chance to add improvements to current factions with new options for something that can really balance out the Titans.
Maybe add an element to the new faction that would make having Titans really worthwhile. Possibly not even allow this race to make Titans... either way, it will help keep those that like the Titan reasons to have them, and those that don't, a chance to learn to like them.
I guess this is more a longshot thought, than an actual solution to a current dilemma, but just a thought based on more of the hardcore gamers posts and the OP's ideas that initially started this thread.
Trinity was barely balanced with 3 factions. How would adding a 4th race and 2 more factions balance out the game?
Fixing the existing content is a must.
I have the same opinion as the OP, which I wrote about here:

A necro post, duplicating the OP as a new topic. Excellent!
Finally, a troll with class....god bless you, oddski....
Oddski posted something that isn't a pony!?!
Absolutely agree because those of us who like extremely powerful titans still want them. Just make an option to disable them for the game and you make both parties happy.

Now I totally agree with the loss of all levels earned when they are destroyed , you shouldn't be that dumb to lose one. However a titan is supposed to be well a titan, a gigantic ship that is supposed to put any other ship to shame by shear power. So they should not be nerfed in any way. I am neutral on getting/buliding/research them by different means, I think if there was any way to nerf them it would be this method and not for the stats or power abilities.

Who on Earth uses a phone that has Windows running on it lol...
After repeated complaints, I've decided I'll finally just have to make a mod to do this. Hopefully sometime over the break.
Somewhere out there in the inter webs, is a picture with someone holding a phone with a window pane with lil feet running across it. When I find it, I will post it....
Titans are weaker than you think.. Fleets are always better than titans and they only seem powerful when your playing team games where one player gets fed a titan minutes into the game.
Early game: LFs and Corvettes
Mid game: Titan, flak, special cruiser (hoshiko, guardian, or overseer)
Late game: Titan, special cruiser, bombers, corvettes
Even chess has more variety...and it doesn't lag, MD, or troll me with ALL CAPS DIALECT or smurfing or general asshatry....
Perhaps I've oversimplified things, so be that...sure, the occasional strategy involving HC or LRF spam might work...maybe you'll see a classic subverter+mine strategy pulled off, or some trolling with cielos or dominas....but at the end of the day, the game is Sins of a Titan....that titans are vulnerable at low levels does not change the fact that your entire strategy ultimately revolves around killing the enemy titan (else face it's wrath...and level ups)...
Whether that is a good or bad thing is a matter of opinion...but it's still sins of a titan...
No one is justifying that you can play a game without building a titan but lets not forget that low level titans can issue the end for the opponent if you kill it with your fleet. The strategy involved is always a colony cap + Kortul/Radiance/Dunov with lf +corvettes, a special cruiser and armored up LRF.
Ofcourse in a team game this doesn't matter if the opponent is fed a titan 2 minutes after its destruction.
Titans are easier to deal with in 1v1 and 2v2 games
issue is players whose sole purpose is not to play, but to feed. Game needs more options to get in and F* with the economy.
Have people considered disabling feeding in big games?
just disable it or disable titans... otherwise get organised with your team and kill as many titans together.
I wonder if this is why I have never seen you online in Sins...
Oh plz.. i hate sins big team games so much that my eye starts to twitch at the sound of 5v5. its nice how you all try to relive the battle of coriana 6 in the babylon 5 series but im a little too starcraft to care. 1v1 or 2v2 on small and medium maps has less lag and less titan upsets.
