Chris Roberts--the primary creator of Games such as Privater, Wing Commander and Freelancer is back in action!.
FROM THE CHAIRMAN:
Welcome!
If you’ve made it here, you probably know who I am. Maybe you have heard of Wing Commander and its sequels, or perhaps Strike Commander, Privateer or Freelancer.
If not, you’re still welcome!
I grew up making video games. I sold my first game at the age of 13 and created Wing Commander when I was 21. But 10 years ago, at the height of my career I took a break. Not because I stopped loving or playing games but because I had become frustrated with the limits of the technology at the time to realize my vision.
I decided to pursue my desire to create detailed worlds and tell sophisticated stories in film.
I always said the moment I became interested in making games again was when I was going to come back.
With the power of today’s computers and the reach of the internet I finally feel I have the tools to build the connected experience that I always dreamed of. A world that would be more satisfying and richer than any film I could work on.
With films you tell stories but with games you create worlds.
If you’ve played my games, you’ll know that’s what I love to do.
I’m here to tell you that I have been working on something for just under a year, something that embraces everything that my past games stood for but takes it to the next level.
I hope you’ll be as excited by it as I am.
My new endeavor is still in its early stages but I invite you to take the journey with me.
If you register below you’ll become an insider that will not only give you early access to the game’s website and forums, but you will also get the opportunity for rewards and privileges that no one else will get. It’s my way of showing how important your early involvement and support is.
The full announcement will be at 10am Eastern Standard Time (UTC -5) on the 10th day of the 10th month of this year.
My name is Chris Roberts.
And if you would indulge me I would like to create a world for you.

The link is here (and "42" is what will get you in if you get stuck). Go enroll and let this guy know you are interested--this is the original scfi game maker who broke all the rules and did the things no one else would.
I would pay for this game in advance without even knowing what it was.
I believe the link gives you the chance to be an alpha-beta tester for the game during the next two years. I'd highly recommend it.
I also think it would be fantastic if Stardock and Ironclad sent him a note of support (I'm just sayin'...)
LOL! Nope, Ramming is for people (like me) with money to burn, and murder on their mind.
You cant "ram" in EVE. Well you can but it doesn't cause any damage, and its not as fun.
Ship to Ship collisions is a must.
I think someone's got a Vanduul Scythe in their pocket ... *ahem* .... Mr. Stress.
No, he didn't back until recently, but I have a Caterpillar he can borrow for ramming things with... As long as I get some of the loot.
Well i cant ram squat until i get a dx 11+ rig built. But when i do i intend to test my ramming skills on the Vanduul. Since it seems that is their favorite tactic. I would like to see their ugly mugs (Through the glass of their own cockpit) when their own tactics are used against them. On their paper thin ships... Muahahahaha!!
Island Dog, have you jumped in yet?
Has anyone else noticed how the Galactic Guides since Goss haven't been grouped under Galactic Guides in Transmissions? Its been bugging me for some time, but since I am not a backer or anything like that, I can't easily contact anyone at CIG about it.
Yeah I complain that the auto update of the pledge amount hasn't been working in several months, at least for me it hasn't...
They'll all be inserted in the galactapedia and be real easy to find once that is ready.
There's also the star citizen wiki if you need to look something up quickly.
I bought Elite dangerous yesterday.
Many SC fans have ED and many ED fans have SC.
You'll get no hate here. We're all fans of space games.
That's right that is.
Why didn't he call it 'Wing commander dangerous'?
Quit trolling.
Quit telling people to quit trolling. Just because you have a shiny badge doesn't mean you own the place.
It's not the badge, but the monkey, from which I derive my authority.
Hah! Now that's funny.
Anyway, for people like (maybe) Island Dog who haven't backed yet, maybe this'll get you in. Color in the greyscale images from here and you might win an x-55 Rhino HOTAS and a flight chair. If not, at least you got to do something productive for a little bit.
Sorry... what's this? 13 pages is gonna take me a while to read... was wondering if someone could clue me in real fast. The vid on this page makes it look like an MMO?
It's only the Best Damned Space Sim Ever.
Basically, yes, MMO, but also there is a single player.
It's more space trading simulator then combat, but there should be a healthy amount of that as well.
Q: is it supposed to be EVE Online without all of the realistic nonsense?
A: No it's not EVE Online.
A video you might want to watch (not totally 100% accurate even though recent but close enough):
Star Citizen is a space sim, a space sim where everything has been created to visual fidelity of a top of the line first person game. I would have already backed years ago if I was confident I could obtain a computer capable of handling it any time soon.
Hmmm...I seem to have lost my real login. What gives?
Hey guys, just thought I'd drop in!
I'm pretty excited for Star Citizen myself! I only have an Aurora (Thanks to Sinperium!) but it's a start. Hoping that I'll be able to build up my PMC over time.
I haven't been able to play the alpha yet due to my graphics card needing an update

At least now I know where my GalCiv badge went.
