I don't know about everyone else, but Rebellion is seriously overpriced. 39.95 for an expansion, standalone or not, is just dumb. Even with the ten dollar discount you get for already owning Sins, the content introduced in Rebellion isn't worth all of that money. So, beyond just wondering when they're going to drop the price, do you think they ever actually will?
I mean, I would be satisfied with Trinity, but there's literally no one playing anymore. It's once in a blue moon that I can actually find a game that's not password protected, locked, or has friends only slots. It's a real shame, because Sins is a great game. Once they drop that 40 dollar price tag by another ten bucks, I would be wholeheartedly willing to buy it as long as I retain my ten dollar discount for owning Sins.
What about you? For those of you still on the fence, how much of a price drop would you like to see before you purchase Rebellion?
Speaking as a modder I find Rebellion's content to be well worth $40, which is what I spent at the time as Entrenchment didn't yet qualify for the discount. Rebellion's addition of Titans, while of questionable benefit to the base game, allowed me to make some very key changes to the mod I'm a part of, which has been of great help, among other things.
Well, I'm not a modder, and having tried it out thanks to a friend, as just a player, the content in Rebellion just isn't worth 30 bucks (with that 10 dollar discount). I've played Sins extensively, and while I do really enjoy the additions Rebellion made to the base game, I can't afford to slap down the money for such an overpriced expansion.
Unfortunately I doubt it's price will drop son. It's still pretty soon after release, and frankly I don't think your assessment on it's worth is as empirical as you seem to think. Many players find it well worth the current price of admission. That said, "worth" is entirely subjective and I understand if the new content isn't worth the cost for you, but understand that for plenty of others it is as your particular sense of value doesn't demand that Stardock drop the price so soon. Game's only been out for a few months- give it time.
It's just difficult when you're as economically challenged as I am.
My biggest problem is that no one plays Trinity anymore.
You wouldn't be buying if for the content. I didn't buy it for the content. Instead, you buy it to be able to play online multiplayer PvP games ("the real Sins game").
I hear ya, brother. Our nation's economy, at least for the lower 50%, has fallen off a cliff into a cesspool of student loan debt, foreclosures, and a lack of health and dental benefits.
What's really sad is that now that most of the pro players have moved on to Rebellion, the terrified players who were afraid to play the game in online multiplayer could play against each other at their lower skill levels, but they're still afraid of coming online.
Rebellion did seem maybe a bit pricey for the 30 bucks.. but eh. I can always save money for things I really want, even if it means eating ramen for a week lol. (no joke, I have done this lol) But in the long run it is really fun and I am glad I got it - and even ordered the dealy where you get the Kol battle ship model and dog tags and such, which hopefully will be shipping before the end of the year
But yeah, maybe for Christmas they could put it on sale for like 20 dollars (which is what I thought would have been a fair price for it)
I bet they would get a lot of sales out of it.
I'm fine with $30 really...you get titans, corvettes, new capital ships, unique abilities for the loyalists and rebels. That and I'm enjoying the new visuals and dynamic shadows.
$30 dollars for an upgrade is ok, $28 would have been better but i ain't complaining..
The annoying part for me will always be the fact that this games engine uses one cpu core for that price.
but of-course its understandable that there trying to cover there marketing costs on top of everything else.
Could you imagine what this game would be like if it had been developed properly--dual core + race balance without ridiculously overpowered abilities?
It's probably time for a $10 price drop or a big Steam sale.
You say that like any game developer has a foolproof method of creating balance.
Players with an overinflated sense of entitlement will never realize just how difficult to balance a competitive multiplayer game with several factions.
You're probably right that a higher budget development would have added dual core cupport.
But that said, it's not really relevant to this thread- game budget/development costs are not directly proportional to how much the game costs- That's not really how modern economics work.
I would suggest looking sharp for sales promos. Prices inevitably drop, but as was stated, the game is still pretty new and still selling well.
I understand, but I would seriously leap on it if there was a sale...
Take the hint: "look sharp".
I don't get it... lol
Tell me he is joking/trolling.

Try typing it one word at a time:
Sale
soon
coming
...I still don't get it.
interesting
I mean... I get that you mean a sale is coming soon, but I don't get what he meant by taking the hint... Was I supposed to read something into "look sharp"...? Apparently I'm not too good at wordplay, T.T
Mostly I'm just messing with you...
but there is a possibility of an imminent sale, as noted by Yarlen
