allow outposts to garrison troops. whether or not this is implemented, if there are ungarrisoned troops on an outpost tile, there should be an easy way to select the outpost. Often times i have soldiers on it to guard it but then I can't select the outpost itself if I want to upgrade it.

It is easy to select an outpost when you have soldiers on it or to select anything which is under a stack. Just click two times. The first click will select the troops, the second click (on the same tile) will select the outpost.
Regardless of how easy it is to select the outpost with troops 'on top of it' guarding, there should really be an option to garrison the troops inside. I agree with the OP on this subject. It's just too redundant that troops aren't able to be stationed in an outpost at all, instead relying on guarding it from "outside".
Thanks for the tip. I've accidentally done this but didn't quite realize how I was doing it.
That said, garrisoning troops would still be a cool feature, maybe as a bonus from certain upgrades like Fortify and Armory.
I dont see a need to "garrison" the troops, already slightly annoyed I have to do "extra clicks" to see the garrison of a city, I would very much enjoy if the battlefield when fighting on an outpost tile would change though, to give the same feeling that you are fighting over THE outpost.
Also hope at some point I get the upgrade that adds 1-2 militia to my outposts

Outposts already have upgrades that enhance the attack, defense and mobility of forces within its zone of control but it would be really nice if there was an upgrade that would let troops inside the ZOC automatically defend the entire ZOC. Optionally, require attacking forces to take out the Outpost and any forces defending it - whether or not officially garrisoned - before they can attack other resources within the ZOC
Agree, while I havent had any problems in .95 because of me being awesome and no one wanting to fight me. It almost impossible to stop an AI from spamming weak armies and just razing the countryside.
