The Movie is called simply "2016" and scheduled for wide release, tommorow August 10. It is Dinesh D'Souza's expose of who Barack Obama really is, what he stands for, and the dangers of him being re-elected for another four years.
"2016" is from Gerald R. Molen, producer of Academy Award winning, Schindler's List, Jurrasic Park and Brave Heart.
According to the release schedule, "2016" will be in my area on August 17.
No thanks, I have better things to do and I HATE politics, or even the mention of it.
Really, 2016, I find that I cannot get interested in something that none of use are going to be around to see. Lets not forget Dec 21, 2012.
I can not believe the worth some of us put into predictions, talk about scare tactics.
Just trying to remember some of what I learned in Civics class, explain to me the powers of the Office of the President again.
Well, if you hate politics, or even the mention of it, this MOST CERTAINLY is one to miss!
I'm the opposite of you, but wouldn't go so far to consider myself a political junkie!
I'll have to travel around 30 miles to see the closest showing!
Sounds like bullshit conservative propaganda. I'll throw it in my "bullshit I don't watch" pile with Michael Moore's leftist bullshit propaganda.
Hey, at least you had civics class ...those are long gone from the government educational system now.
Oh ya, the Constitution provides for a definite division of powers..often called "checks and balances" and distribution of federal powers among 3 distinct branches of national government.
My old history book tells me that:
The three branches are the Legislative branch, Congress which makes the laws; the Executive branch, the President who carries out the laws, and the Judicial branch, the Supreme Court, which interprets the laws.
The President is the Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy and of the State Militias when called into national action, but only Congress can declare war. The President can order the US armed forces to to take action in foreign countries when he thinks it's neceassary. He can also direct military campaigns and may call out federal troops or state militias to enforce federal laws or to protect the US Mail and interstate commerce.
The President's duty and responsibility is to see the laws are faithfully carried out, and to preserve, protect and defend the U.S. COnstitution.
The President has the power to grant repreives or pardons for offenses against the US except in cases of impeachment.
The President can negotiate treaties with foreign powers although these treaties must be ratified by the Senate.
The President can also make 'executive agreements" with foreign powers which do not have to be confirmed by the Senate.
The President has the power to appoint all federal officials (except those under civil service) with advice and consent of the Senate.
The President has the power to veto any bill passed by Congress within 10 days after it is presented to him for signing.
...........................................................................................
Now for the loaded question. How do you think President Obama is doing as far as carrying out his powers?
Now for the really loaded question: why are you talking politics in this sub-forum when it's not allowed?
Big ditto!
I'm sorry I'm breaking some kind of rules...
Just wondering....What do we discuss in the case when the movie and the two books in which it is based upon, IS all about politics, in this case President Obamas?
In the link I provided, D'Souza said, "...we want audiences to question what implications are, and what the world would look like in 2016 if he is re-elected."
Should I re-post it under politics or current events or what?
Moved to politics.
It is a movie, but a super ultra conservative propaganda one. And the one rule of this sub-forum is no politics. I think it would be hard to talk about this movie without having a political discussion. Is there a plot (story plot, not political subversive plan, I know there is one of those) to discuss? Is there acting? Is there special effects? It seems, in my great wisdom (and no authority to actually make a decision) that this would be better posted somewhere else.
"2016" is a documentary that D'Souza describes as "intellectually and factually very sound"....that..."so far, no one has alleged the contrary."
Here is a link of Megan Kelly interviewing D'Souza in which he describes what the movie is about and who he interviews, (Obama's half brother), etc.

"Obama's America 2016"
In an interview, the film producer, Gerald T. Molen said:
CP: What do you hope people who see the movie will come away with?
Molen: I hope that if nothing else they come away with enough desire to want to know more. Hopefully, I want people to walk out of the theater and say, "Wow, I didn't know that." And to just seek the truth, make their own decisions about what is going on in this country, but do the research. Know the facts. Get educated.

Gerald Molen has produced many of the most memorable films in the last three decades including blockbusters like Jurassic Park, Twister, Days of Thunder, Hook and Minority Report. He was a producer for the Academy Award winning film Schindler's List and co-producer for Rain Man which won the Oscar for Best Picture.
Born in Mumbai, India Dinesh D'Souza has truly lived the American Dream. He moved to the United States to attend Dartmouth University and upon graduation he went to work in the Reagan White House as a policy analyst.
He has been a fellow of the Hoover Institute at Stanford University and the American Enterprise Institute. He is also the author of the New York Times Bestseller The Roots of Obama’s Rage. His other book titles include the popular What’s So Great About Christianity, Letters to a Young Conservative, and The End of Racism. He is a popular speaker and has appeared on Hannity, The Colbert Report, Glenn Beck and Politically Incorrect.
It's true, we don't know Obama. We should, but we don't.
Why don't we know of his past? I mean really know.
The media and even Harry Reid are clamoring for 12 years of Romney's tax records, yet it is so lop-sided....they were/are silent on the disclosure of Obama's records...and becasue of their silence...we don't know him. Not his past in other countries, and not his past in the USA.
During the 2008 campaign, why did the mainstream media avoid reporting Obama's relationships with Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Chicago domestic terrorist Bill Ayers, and Communist Party member Frank Marshall Davis?
How come they and his supporters don't want to know?
His records are sealed and according to some, Obama has paid millions of dollars to keep them sealed.
Columbia and Harvard College records sealed.
His thesis papers sealed.
His original birth certificate, selective service, and medical records, all sealed.
And Obama promised his administration would be one of transparency.
I'm thinking the movie is going to go a long way in helping us see who Obama really is.

Yeowch, I'd be more interested in putting this guy under the microscope... Anti-Western Indian influence should be one of the growing concerns for everyone in North America.
They really do have a plan to infiltrate and subvert the West.... 1/2 as payback for colonialism, and 1/2 because they think their culture is superior.
This is also one of the things that fascinates me about anti-democrat propaganda, they focus their attack on the president and how evil he is...
Where if we look at something Fahrenheit 911, there is a chain of attacks across the entire big picture (Bush, Saudi Arabia, the oil industry and the media that backs them up) [and fascinating enough, Republicans see this only as an attack on Bush where as most everyone else sees it as an attack on Saudi, corporate and media interference in the US]
It's as if they expect the target audience for this film to be a bunch of simple hicks who are incapable of understanding the ramifications of the big picture, so instead produce a parallel of a sermon (something the target demographic is familiar with) where the main antagonist is "the devil", and how it is important not to be "one" with "the devil".
The reality is Obama does what he is told, and the only reason he is the presidential candidate is because of the votes he attracts. So this notion of a burning anti-American sentiment he "must" harbor is ridiculous, because every Democrat "power" would have the same agenda.
This is especially hilarious considering the rest of the world realizes Obama is far to the right on most economic policies.
Only in America can this guy be incorrectly labeled as a socialist.

Oh please. Attacking D'Souza gets you no where.
D'Souza responded to this already...both Fahrenheit 911 and "2016" were made under similiar conditions....controversial president...half the country for him and half the country against him...and drop it in the middle of an election year.
And one of the things that fascinates me about anti-GOP propaganda is they focus their attack on the GOP president and how evil he is....
I haven't seen the movie yet, have you? If you haven't why assume it's anti-democrat propaganda and an attack against Obama? If you have, then give some specifics please.
From what I've read so far, it's neither of those but rather a factual look upon Obama's past and relationships.
I agree. I'd say one puppet master behind the scene is currency manipulator George Soros and he and Obama both share a globalist agenda for the USA.
Well, the "rest of the world" is mistaken. Obama, far to the right on most economic policies, is laughable. Remember Obama's mentors were Saul Alinsky and Frank Marshall Davis! Obama's wroking on bringing change but it ain't to the right, that's for sure!
What about Obama's shadow government...his den of czars? How many czars does Obama have? More than Russia!
How many of these czars had to undergo Senate confirmation? The answer is most have not. Doesn't this violate Congress' Constitutional duty to review, confirm, or reject any appointees from the Executive Branch?
Obama appointed them for these unaccountable positions because he didn't want them properly scrutinized...as that would have exposed their radical ideology and disdain for traditional American life, especially its free enterprise.
They're invading to give your poor people free health care.... those bastards! Who would have thought regulated health insurance was a pretty good deal in comparison!
I don't get your position...-The democrats are better at doing the shady political crap then the republicans? Or do you only get mad at the Democrats when they do the same crap the Republicans do when they get the chance?-The corporate welfare the democrats dole out to their friends grinds your gears only because it should be your guys who get it instead?
My original position -> Republicans have always been far worse then democrats based on the timeline of my political awareness: Bush Sr -> Clinton -> Bush Jr -> 1 term of ObamaMy current position for 2012 -> Democrats are just as bad as Republicans now for everything wrong with government
Are there major differences in specific policies of the parties on economics? Yes... Is the total net effect on how "right wing" the country is on economics any different between the parties? Not anymore.
The last 4 years the Democrats have pretty much kept the status quo of Bush Jr, when instead they promised to reign in all the right wing policies that are destructive to the middle class.
Here when I say "far to the right" I mean conservative.
Leftist Liberals want the Government to take care of our health care needs.
Nothing is free..someone pays for it. Socialized health care..."pretty good deal"? Hmmm...what's happening with socialized medicine around the world when the expenditures become astronomical? They control the costs by denying or limiting care to patients. That's why Canadians by the thousands come to the USA for surgeries.
They also control costs by limiting the number of patients especially the elderly.
This is the problem I have, everything is relative to the current democrat/republican conflict.
Memories seem to deteriorate as policies move more right among the political compass axis I have previously brought up.
Entitlement solutions that were "extreme right" counter-proposals 15 years ago are now considered "left", simply because the new proposals are far more right relatively speaking on the -10 to 10 "controlled economy" vs "true free market" scale as shown by the Political Compass analysis I have previously brought up.
Ultimately my complaint is1) The only difference between Republicans and Democrats is who they give YOUR money too (eg: 1 trillion in tax breaks to corporations[republicans] vs 1 trillion in stimulus spending to individuals[democrats] during a presidential term. So the whole who is left vs who right argument between Republicans and Democrats is ultimately bullshit, because none of them are truly for a free market.2) Although a true free market(something never actually implemented, anywhere) is very fair to everyone, there is no such thing as free will. As such a certain amount of "wealth redistribution" is required to achieve a purely hard and cold economical superiority considering that the allocation of resources in done in order to achieve the most gain. That is to say that a 100% free market is ultimately inferior to a similar "mostly" free market with some economical analysis in regards to the subsidization of the items of something like "Mazlo's pyramid". (If these two economies are put in comparison with each other, side by side, under the exact same environment, (not in competition, but isolation) the 100% free market does not show the most economical gain.) 3) Very few people are willing, or capable of considering this position, which ultimately causes the "friction" with me.
I would also propose that Republican / Neo-con "reduce tax and spend" policy (the so called Laffer Curve economical philosophy starting from the Regan era) is far more deadly to the middle class then the traditional "tax and spend" variations from previous outlooks of both parties...

I saw "2016" this morning and I'm glad I did. Everything about the movie was very well done. D'Souza did an excellent job presenting a factual account of Obama's life, the people and cultural influences that helped shape him into the radical that he is.
The movie makes it oh so much easier to understand Obama, who he is and what he wants for America which I'm convinced he doesn't love.
On July 23, Obama said, "We tried our plan--and it worked." Well, yes and no. If one hasn't seen the movie, the response would be his plan didn't work. In fact his plan made it worse....nearly 16 trillion in debt...23 million unemployed..
But to him (radical Obama) who is anti-America and wants to bring her down a notch or two in the world, then this is the kind of "Change" that accomplishes that.

In reply #14, D'Souza is interviewing Obama's half brother, George, who lives in Nairobi. And today comes this breaking news:
Here is an article written by Producer and Co-Director Dinesh D’Souza on a Fox News Opinion Piece. Please send this to your friends! This is an amazing article and one that deserves to be shared.

How I became George Obama’s ‘brother’ By Dinesh D’Souza Published August 16, 2012 Fox News Opinion
A few days ago I received a call from a man I recently met named George. He was a bit flustered, and soon informed me that his young son was sick with a chest condition. He pleaded with me to send him $1,000 to cover the medical bills. Since George was at the hospital I asked him to let me speak to a nurse, and she confirmed that George’s son was indeed ill. So I agreed to send George the money through Western Union. He was profusely grateful. But before I hung up I asked George, "Why are you coming to me?" He said, "I have no one else to ask." Then he said something that astounded me, "Dinesh, you are like a brother to me."
Actually, George has a real life brother who just happens to be the president of the United States. (George Obama is the youngest of eight children sired by Barack Obama Sr.) George’s brother is a multimillionaire and the most powerful man in the world. Moreover, George’s brother has framed his re-election campaign around the "fair share" theme that we owe obligations to those who are less fortunate.
Two things:
Tax breaks are not 'giving money'; they're 'not taking' money.
Hard to know how much of that stimulus spending, which came from individuals, actually returned to individuals; my take is that it was the biggest money laundering operation in US history, with a very large vig.
