And seanw3 called it, the company did fold....
So what happens next for the hundreds, if not thousands that bought the game, will keep following...
New Screens.....
Previously...
Very nice explosions and debris...
Nice planet detail....
More screen shots can be seen here...And here's the vid....
It's a real shame that such a promising game has fallen in such a way, I guess it shows us all how good intentions can lead to heartache, especially when it comes to money out of your wallet...
Well, what do you think...
That's some terrible ship movement...
I don't think this game can compete with SINS by being SINS. So I am more interested in how it is different than how it is the same.
Wonder how that works.
It says little of gameplay this video, but colour me interested.
I've been following this game for a while and am interested in it. However they have shown very little (their very few videos show much the same footage) and the concept of advertising (at least over in the states) seems unknown to them. With no signs of a Beta happening I am almost certain this is going to end up like another SoTS2 or Elemental, an unfinished game with 'lots of potential'. I am hoping for the best but I will definitely not be tricked into another day 1 purchase. If it does deliver it should be pretty awesome though since it sounds a lot better than Endless Space and also has real-time battles instead of card battles lol. Its so strange that seemingly out of nowhere 2 new x4 space games come out and decide to release within a week of each other. If just one of them is good then I will be a happy gamer!
Here's an interview back in February discussing on the how and why the game came about. It's turn based like SOTS (Sword Of The Stars), but when combat happens it switches to RT combat, but unlike SOTS, I believe there is no time limit like in SOTS....
Here's a vid, but is is in German but at least you can see what the game will be like until the final release....
Well I am sold. Love the fact that there is so many 4X games coming out, this is crazy! Love it!
In this post, will show two of the three main factions of the game, Humans and the X'or...
War has been part of Mankind for ages. Our history has been but a succession of conflicts. How could we have been simultaneously looking for ever more power and for ever more well-being just can’t be understood. Many of us stopped believing, and more than one prophesized the end of our world.
And then we discovered how to reach the stars. While contemplating the infinite reaches of space, we understood our fate had just changed forever. It was a challenge only a group of united people could overcome. Conflicts over food, religion, raw materials or even power ended. Mankind was finally as one, and our imagination knew no boundaries. We built spacecraft we would never have dreamed possible. We were finally able to travel beyond the limits of the solar system, exploring and colonizing far and unknown worlds.
But peace, indeed, would not last forever. Soon, greed ate away at the dream of a united future. Alien planets, with unknown bounties aplenty, rekindled our race’s worst instincts. What started as a dream for many was crushed by a few. Earth declared war on the separatist colonies and a new chapter of our history was written with the blood of Man.
In the end, the colonies were brought to their knees by the new technologies that made the Earth intervention fleet so powerful. But that victory didn’t come without a heavy price tag for Earth. The war that raged between brothers of the same race drew the attention of another race, much more powerful than ours. That race allied with Earth’s government and put an end to the troubles in the colonies. To win the war, Earth’s government sealed an alliance without questioning the benevolence of the aliens, who so generously offered to share their knowledge with us and promised the greatest of futures together. Had we been able to learn from our own History, we would have been more careful. Soon, it was humanity that faced an uncertain future…
_______________________________________________________________________Ship designsHuman ships tend to be wider than they are tall to accommodate more colonization modules. This, however, makes them more vulnerable to attack from the top and bottom sides, as they provide a very “fat” target. Their ships have strong defenses but lack maneuverability. Human weaponry tends towards projectile weapons. Human captains tend to prefer fighting at long range, launching a mix torpedo volleys and particles.
CharacteristicsThe humans that have been brought to this sector of space are fighting for their survival and yet not all of them agree on how the future of mankind should be. There are constant tensions between the survivors. Humans get a natural race bonus on their trade skills and are average in most other skills.
Greed. Power. Hate. Some people are guided by their emotions, some civilizations are destroyed by their passions. The X’or will never share such a fate. Their single and only goal is integration, the expansion of their species. Gathering all the data, all the technologies, they implement them in their cities and in their fleets, they improve their worlds and universe. They develop new processes to improve themselves, and they integrate it in each of their drones and spaceships as a means of strengthening the unity, the nucleus, the Core…The age before the Core belongs to the ancient past, to races long since forgotten. Nobody knows if the first beings developed by themselves or if they were experiences from other people, trying to create intelligent machines. The past and the origins of the X’or are lost in the sands of time. One thing is certain, though: since the appearance of the Core, machines became real, living entities. Through the Core, the X’or gave their life a meaning and they started to multiply. They were only a few, without a goal, without a frame; but the Core gave them what Nature didn’t: evolution. As they are not plagued with the problems biological races face, such as wars and diseases, they became, in a very short lapse of time, the equals of civilizations that had been evolving for millennia.Because they have no biological needs and they can survive in the most extreme conditions, the X’or colonized planets no biological being would ever dream of colonizing. Instead of trying to compete with other races, the X’or avoid them and only observe them silently, trying to understand their technologies. Since their territories hold raw materials with very low yield and they have such a major technological advantage, the X’or don’t really fear being attacked by the other races. In their never-ending pursuit of knowledge, they discovered forgotten technologies of a long passed civilization in some random ruins. Since then, they explore the galaxy looking for other artifacts from that race, which, much like the X’or, was mostly interested in knowledge. While searching for more clues, they encountered another race of old. A race older than the Core itself. A race that doesn’t hesitate to exterminate other life forms to acquire knowledge._______________________________________________________________________Ship designsThe ships of the X’or are assembled by combining ring-like structures with insect-like spikes, giving them medium attack and defense abilities and average maneuverability. The X’or prefer lasers over particle weapons and try to evade their enemies in battle with complex maneuvers.Racial CharacteristcsThe X’or are a robot race with a central hive mind. The resulting efficiency gives them a very high production rate. As there is no individual in the X’or collective, the race lacks overall creativity. They have slow research and very weak diplomatic skills. The X’or get natural race bonuses on mining and production and penalties on research and diplomacy.
In this post, this will cover the "Guilds" in Legends of Pegasus....
In the universe of Legends of Pegasus, the player is never alone. Alongside the three big races Humans, X’or and Arthrox, small guilds roam the systems of the sector. Each guild has it’s own charactaristics and goals. In the campaign as well as in the sandbox mode, the player can get into contact with these guilds and have profitable diplomatic relationships with the. Relationships are also important if the player wants to settle on a planet that already has a native population aligned to one of these guilds.
Here are some infos about the guilds in Legends of Pegasus:
1. The Mek’meran
The Mek’meran are a group of hardened mercenary tribes. They specialize in the art of war; diplomacy is not their cup of tea. Their leaders react aggressive and oftentimes hostile.
The player may gain extra mercenary ships in combat if his relationship towards the Mek’meran is very good.
2. The Llell
The Llell are skilled traders and merchants. Their trade routes span the known universe, raking in steady profit for the Llell. The art of war eludes them and they are very grateful to anyone who offers to protect their freighters.
The player may profit from trading bonuses if his relationship towards the Llell is very good.
3. The Krogul
The Krogul roam the universe in search for wrecked ships or salvageable material. They are scrap merchants in the best sense of the words. Some say, were it not for the Krogul, most systems would be impassable because of all the debris of wars long since passed. Living a life marked by hard work and a constant struggle, the Krogul act serene and neutral to anyone contacting them.
If the player does not salvage the debris of destroyed ships himself, the Krogul will come to clear it and make a fortune out of it. The player may sometimes gain some resources from the Krogul if his relationship towards them is very good.
4. The Xelshok
The one thing that the Xelshok strive for is knowledge. They are a collective of intelligent beings driven by the will to learn more about other races and the universe itself. The Xelshok are happy to share their knowledge with anyone contacting them as long as they feel they get something in return. Although their weaponry could be very advanced they refrain from taking any aggressive action.
The player may gain technologies if his relationship towards the Xelshok is very good.
Purely from visual perspective, Sins looks IMHO way, way better than Legends of Pegasus. I mean both in technology and actual art, ship design, etc... the same thing with the other competing game, Endless Space, although that one has quite nice looking 2Dish stuff, i mean user interfaces and stuff like that.
Here's the new video featuring the X'or....
In this link, the vid will show how big of a galaxy to play in, customization of ships and Terra forming planets. Enjoy...
I have been fallowing this for a while now, since I saw that new video on the Xor race I went ahead and pre-ordered it. I hope its not anouther Sword of the stars 2 move...
I watched the vids. Visually it looks like it will be fun to watch. I hope the game play mechanics keep pace with the graphics.
Hey guys, here's the final major race, the Arthrox...
You Humans are searching for an ally – but why should we listen to you? As single beings, you roam the galaxies, each one searching but never reaching any destination. What could you offer us? We, are one with the worlds you are only exploiting and destroying. Born from the stars, we live in a harmony with the planets, we are part of the universe. To what purpose should we put your technology? The only knowledge we are striving for is that about the key to life itself? We are the h’aron and the saror – unique in our diversity, unified in our mind. We are Arthrox – we do not need you.“Born to walk between the stars,” such would be our name in your language. That is what we were called by the forgotten. We have to thank them for what we are. They created us – before they abandoned us and left.
For as long as we can remember, we lived on planets as well as in the void of space between them. Our various forms, the ability to adapt our bodies to our surroundings, enabled us to travel to distant worlds and to become one with them. The forgotten helped us in our evolution, taught us to tread parts that would have otherwise been hidden in the dark.In return, we became their guardians. We accompanied them on their journeys, watched over young civilizations for them. Soon enough however, we found out that not every race knew how to appreciate their gifts. Some of the races used their gifts against us. Although we still fulfilled the tasks that were given to us, doubts began to fill our hearts. How did these other races deserve the kindness of the forgotten? Should not we be the only chosen people?
Without a word of warning, they suddenly disappeared and became a part of the past. They became the forgotten. We stayed behind and had to witness how war tore the peoples of our home sector asunder after they left. We could not prevent the war. But we managed to protect our planets and to drive every foreign power out of our territory. We learned to avoid other races and to regard them as what they had always been – our enemies. But we underestimated our foes. Without really knowing the reason, our people split apart. Our distrust grew to a point where we could not even trust our own tribes. When the attack finally arrived, we were weak, separated from each other, lost. Helpless, we had to watch as one queen after another was annihilated. For we had erred. Our enemies were not lingering beyond our borders. They were amongst us.
_______________________________________________________________________Ship designsArthrox ships are organic structures, made up of a head, body and propelling tentacles. When a ship is build, the hull (the h’aron) and the pilot (the saror) form a symbiosis, making the ship an individual. They tend to be long and cylindrical, which makes them more susceptible to portside or starboard fire. The Arthrox’s ships are very fast and agile but lack any strong armor, making them dependent on shields. The Arthrox like to use long-range particles and strong beam weapons as well as special weapon systems.Racial CharacteristcsThe Athrox are a biological race currently divided into a multitude of tribes, each with their own queen. They are a very creative, communicative, high-tech race and get bonuses on research and diplomacy, while being handicapped in respect to their mining and production skills.
The release date of this game is still Aug 14...
Not to be that guy, but this game was actually released today (10th).
Not to be that guy, but rumor is it was released in very poor form.
Not to be that guy, but it's a turd. Avoid.
No beta. No demo. No steam forum. No previews of the game. No recent gameplay trailers. A lack of anything resembling good press about the gameplay prior to release. New dev team + franchise advertising to be able to 'take down' stable game with multiple released expansions (Sins). Last minute push-back of release date indicative of a rushed development team begging a publisher for more time.
As an experienced 4x gamer who has been met with a lot of disappointments over recent years (Elemental, SoTS 2, etc), I saw these signs and decided not to pre-order. As a person who loves 4x games I was unfortunately correct in my assessment. I hate how publishers can get away with promising everything and delivering nothing. I feel sorry for anyone who wasted money on this turd. Cue the comments about how it has 'so much potential' and how the same team that released an unfinished game is 'great at supporting their games' and a few more patches will 'fix everything'.
There must be a rule somewhere that says you aren't allowed to make a good 4x game.
There is a Steam forum for LoP and it's not good. All bad comments. VERY different from Endless Space who got most good comments and great reviews. Wow, so glad I listened to my instincts and stayed away from this one. Endless Space will have hundreds if not thousands of hours of replay value until the next good 4x game finally happens.
I think it's a good idea to not do any pre-orders for games any more. And if you think that one might be great, still have another think about whether you want to take the risk. There's not much you gain (apart from rubbish DLC) and a lot to lose with pre-ordering any game these days.
Must be DL verison only, the DVD-Rom is for the 14th then...
If that's the case, very disappointed...
And they released a new trailer for the Arthrox....
Wow, just popped over to the Steam forum of LoP and it's not pretty...
Just thought I would throw in my 2 cents. I was one of the poor idiots who bought into this game which is such a smoldering pile of trash. It's a real shame that games are allowed to be released in such a condition without refund. In any other retail form you would be allowed time to return poorly designed products, but in this new age of "licensing" we get none.
Anyways STAY AWAY FROM THE GAME....its very bad
The game is incredibly buggy and Ive had ships spin in circles for a millenia before completing their orders. The game lacks tons of tool tips and is incredibly unclear about its missions. In one piece of the campaign it told me to approach some way points, but failed to tell me where to find or see said way points or even an idea of what they looked like. I spent about 10minutes moving around the solar system before finding tiny pentagons in the distance that I was apparently suppose to follow with my ship. In another example it will tell you to use X or Y but give no direction, and the buttons lack tool tips or information when highlighting so you end up clicking on 50 buttons to find what your looking for.
It also has the worst research system I have ever seen. It features bland enhancements like +1% or +2% laser damage and other lame features. And some of the tech's don't even seem to give a reward or are lacking tool tips or information to describe their benefits.
Ironically though the game shares a few similar features to SOTS 2 that it does better. It has the same sort of battle system were you position your fleet before, and after battle and then play a real time battle among the solar system. Only it works about 50 times better since you can warp across the system, and moving fleets and ships around before battle is more intuitive and straight forward.
Its a real shame at how this blessing of 4X games has turned out. First we had the abomination of Sots 2, then we had gemini wars which was really bland, and then we had Endless space which while fairly well polished and designed, it lacks any sort of real depth.
Heres to hoping Stardrive can redeem this struggling genre. It sure looked like we were going to have the best year ever with around 4-5 4x games in a years time.
Just make sure you save yourself and don't dare buy this awful game. It doesn't have the core design flaws of SOTS 2, so maybe in a good 6-12 months it can become fully realized and finished, but at the moment its just awful.
Sup guys, you may already heard the disaster plaguing Legends Of Pegasus. But I found one guy who is showcasing game play over on YouTube, his name is ChaosTauKnight and he has done a ready good job on navigating through what suppose to be pretty bad. He is already up to part 7 and more are coming, here's the first...
Leave comments on his YouTube page....
We have a winner. It's sad but true. Pre-orders are for suckers. If you're smart, you a week (or two) and watch the reaction. Seems to be doubly true for strategy games. Genres like 4X have been plagued by truly awful releases in the past year (and Endless Space, which stands out if for no other reason then that it actually works).
In this case doing so was a good way to save some money. I really want this genre to do well, so it's disappointing that it keeps happening. Only question now seems to be if it's a worse launch then SotS 2 or not.
lol...
I've been preaching this for over a year.
The problem is that the current business model seems to be to push stuff out way before it's ready, because the payoff is still too high that way. Gone are days of clean releases right? That's what everyone has been saying for at least a decade. Well, the only way to change it is to stop rewarding the shitty business practices which allow that.
