Hey guys
I've read the newbie guide's, ive read quite a phew posts. but i just find this game so overwhelming with so many option's that i find myself confused on which path to take and relying on an npc allie to help me out against one opponent, in a one on one match or having pirates enabled i just get dominated and lost
What i find most overwhelming is the constant taking of planets. the extremely large fleets enemys build that no matter which planet you go to of the enemy, theres a constant incomming of ships to fight which is fun and all but its really tough to keep up with there production. my ally within the first 10 minutes has ships going all over the place
Im just really bad at multitasking that many options, ill see ships going back and forth between planets on my ally's side constantly
So beyond my explanation, im curious. is there a way to really reduce all of this to make the game more "build and go", only a phew planets. resources, and smaller fleet numbers
So that i can get used to the mechanics abit easier. it really feels like im thrown into the deep end no matter what map i choose. ive tried smaller fleet sizes in the options. ive tried small maps etc
any helps appreciated for a noobie i feel so noobie, i think my biggest issues is i find it so hard to multitask everything, especially small fleets of ships all over the place, im the type who loves spacegames were im just a single pilot fighting enemys. so space RTS is new to me ( dont get me wrong, i absolutely love teh game )
1. Make sure the pirates are off. These guys can add to the overwhelming game play by tons.
2. Choose a race you are most comfortable with. I find TEC Loyalists are best as they Turtle (build strong defenses) best.
3. Big map with only one opponent. Scout well to find good choke points and secure them as fast as possible.
4. Choose the Easy AI.
5. Build the Colonizer Capital Ship first (Akkan, Mothership, Jarrusul) for your free capital ship. This will help in colonizing quickly.
6. Each planet get at least 1 population upgrade. Two for Terran and Desert Planets.
7. Trade ports are your friends.
8. Build scouts and get an idea of map.
9. Build scouts to find enemy.
10. Build scouts to keep intel of enemy constantly incoming.
11. Learn the Empire Tree. It will help a lot. But do keep it trimmed to prevent information overload.
12. Big single fleets are better then a bunch of small fleets.
You seem to be having the most trouble getting up to the production level of your ally. So to add on to Ryat's points, some recommendations:
if u play against ai research the diplomacy things- so that your relations with the different ai's is good- that will buy you some time to micro and experiment with things!
