While i feel slightly stupid for making pointing this out amidst a major outcry of balance issues, I must say: the research-related achievements still do not pop. I've tried again to get the Vasari Empire Researcher achievement, and i didn't even get any fleet research just to be on the safe side, and i do not have the cheevo. I'm sure it still doesnt work for the TEC Civilian and the Advent Warfare as well, which I tried the last time i pointed this out.So yea, not exactly a priority i don't think, but it is annoying and wanted to make sure it was known by devs.
I can't get Vasari warfare/econ, Advent Harmony, pirate exterminator - thus far.
Going to try the TEC's now. I think it's because some research items were moved to different trees with the Rebellion release, maybe?
Some Achievements are not working. The patch scheduled for August 28th will hopefully fix them.
Appears these are all still broke with 1.1 patch. I have done all 3 non-military research achievements and none of them worked.
Did you research anything in the diplomacy tree? You can't research anything their either.
People have earned the achievements so they are at least possible to get (check steam stats, and I know I already have them so they have to work)...some may be bugged (ie triggered when they aren't supposed to) but as far as I know all achievements are granted when they should be...
I have done all three non-military research achievements more than once and made sure not to research anything in diplomacy either. I also went on and got the advent fleet diversity in the same game where the harmony research should have triggered and that failed to trigger as well.
I don't know if it makes a difference but I did them all on the point blank map with pirates inactive which is easy for these. Just send a cap ship around the loop of planets colonizing as fast as you can and use the rest of your fleet support to leave a group of the base frigates at the home world (which is right next to the opponent home world on that map). Then whenever you encounter the enemy on one end of the loop, hit him on the other. Play smart and you can easily overpower him and then just build your research structures, queue all the research and wait.
As I say I have done it with all 3 races on this map and none of them triggered.
I also made a custom map and did advent military researcher and that did not trigger. I also played that one on and did advent fleet diversity and it did not trigger in that game either. However when I made the custom map the world builder achievement did trigger so clearly it is not a matter of all achievements being broken on my installation.
I did see where some people had achieved each of these. Makes me wonder if they used to work before 1.1 or if there are other factors which effect whether or not they trigger. For instance I have the other two fleet diversity achievements which I am sure I got before I patched to 1.1. I am sure I will have many other opportunities to try the advent fleet diversity again as well, I only just recently started going for achievements on purpose so that should tell me if it is a matter of other factors effecting it or if it is a matter of it being outright broken.
It is a matter of you doing the right things...
You can ONLY build labs/research in the military tree, not the security tree. You can't already have defeated the enemy when you get the prerequiste for the achievement.
This would be the only thing I did not do that has been mentioned so far. It has occurred to me that this may be necessary but that makes it a whole heck of a lot harder since you have to wait a long time for the research to happen. Trying to win a large map this way over a prolonged period of fighting would be near impossible for the non-military research achievements.
So does this mean the computer has to have a planet left or does it mean the screen that says you win must not have come up yet? It may be possible to keep the computer opponent contained but alive but frequently you will be given the win before you actually have to annihilate every single planet and unit.
EDIT: I believe you are correct ezeltje299, I loaded a point in my military researcher game before I had taken out the AI. I left the AI with 3 planets in a bottle necked area and did the research. The AI was alive and well and occasionally launching attacks throughout. The military researcher achievement triggered as expected. I went on and did the advent fleet diversity and it also triggered as expected. Now I am going to try the non-military achievements without wiping out the AI and see what happens.
EDIT2: That seems to have been the issue. I have gotten two of the non-military research achievements now.
