I did a little searching for "Dual Monitor" but didn't see anything. I have 2 Monitors, and when I scroll in the direction of the Second monitor, instead of keeping the cursor inside the first monitor (Window the game is in) it allows the mouse to escape and never actually scrolls to the right in the game.
I hope this makes sense.
I only found out about this game last night at around 9:00. I bought it, downloaded it and played it for hours last night, but I also hit into this issue.
I did notice that in the case where I only wanted to shift the view a little bit to the right, I could use the middle mouse button to shift the screen. Maybe that'll help in the mean time for those who don't want to use the keys or zoom. Just middle-mouse click and drag the screen to shift it.
I've only gotten this to work 4 times.
It's VERY annoying. I run 3 screens, and cant move left or right without mouse wheel scrolling in and back out.
There was a post that this will be looked into, but I'm curious if it's part of this next patch...?
The game's broken till this is fixed. If it's not going to be fixed for a while, I'd sure like to know.
Does no one realise the arrow keys work?
How many hotkeys do you even use during a game? Heck during a fleet battle you can just zoom out a bit to see the whole battle..
(yes, I use dual screens. I have my hand sitting on my nostromo using its joystick to move around)
thats not the point dude.
if you buy a car and find out that it doesn't have an engine built-in, do you push it to its destination?
this feature needs to work as it is crucial for certain gameplay aspects (like side scrolling with the mouse); it is an rts after all.
anyways, lets not discuss why we need/dont need sidescrolling but why doesn't work and when or how it gets fixed. that's what this thread is about. anything else is OT.
We'll be looking at this for a future patch, but it won't be in the next update (1.03).
Thanks for the update Yarlen.
Sadly that means shelving Rebellion (at least for me), and moving on to something else while we wait for the fix.
Serves me right not to have participated in the final portions of the beta so that I could have seen this coming---tho I had pre-ordered already, and since it wasnt an issue in Diplomacy, there's no way I could have known this bug would exist at release before my pre-order purchase.
Hopefully it wont be too long in the future, as Rebellion has added quite a few interesting things.
Any word on whether this will be addressed in 1.04 or not?
Thanks.
any word at all?
I just want to reiterate that this is the best work around I've seen. I'm more likely to try and alt-tab a few times then to actually disable my2nd monitor or download some app which basically disables my second monitor for me.
I'd love to see a fix some time soon though.
I can rarely get it to work. 5 times total I've gotten it to work.
Thanks for the reminder though....I'll keep trying this, I guess, when I want to play Rebellion.
Honestly, this teaches me a lesson to NEVER buy a game before release (I thought that SinS could be expected to be far more polished...kinda surprised at the company, actually).
I havent done that in years...serves me right. Would rather have my money back (which isnt much really) than deal with the frustration.
I feel you ready and I am ready for this to get fixed however on the flipside I have started using arrow keys a little more often. Although when you have been doing something for sixteen years it can be just a little hard to change.
The game has been broken for me since the beta, so sadly SinS continues to lie dormant.
Has this been fixed yet, or any word on when this "will be looked at for a future patch"?
Thanks!
RM
to fix this:
go to video settings > check windowed mode > apply > when asked to keep the changes: cancel > have fun with proper dual screen
I got 2 screens myself so I know it works
Actually I am sure this has been posted about during the beta because Diplomacy managed the multiple screens much better. For now I just disable the other monitors in the Windows Screen Size dialog before starting. Right-Click desktop, choose Screen Resolution and then set Windows to display the screen only ona specific monitor. It will ask you to verify after the change, click Yes. Leave the dialog box open so that when you exit Rebellion it is still open and you can change back to the normal setup in about a few seconds.
The pain in the ass part is if you have gadgets or icons spread across the screens. Oy vey..

this works...and it takes 5 seconds to do and only need to do it when restarting sins
Beats my method!! Thanks!
Thanks ezeltje299!
This works great.
I'm not happy with Ironclad over their silence on this matter (not that they care), nor their refusal to fix this.
At least I can play what I paid for, and sure learned a lesson about pre-ordering from IronClad.
If you would actually read the thread, you can see yarlen has responded So they do care, and are trying to make a fix, but they probaly just don't know how to fix it yet or it might come with the next major update(Who knows). And lots of other games actually got the same issue for me
As you can see, I have read this thread, (and the others like it) since I replied to Yarlan's message right below his post
However, they have not responded to this since June, this in addition to an email from them that they would address this.
I just re-installed SOASE after a multi-year hiatus and have also grown out of my single monitor. Not having the cursor screen locked is really annoying. I saw in the linked thread they were going to patch this... have I just missed a tick-box somewhere enabling this?
Work around is to enable window mode in video settings from the main menu, then disable before a game.
Was this fixed in the latest patch, or was it ignored again?
It's been over a year.
