Hey all, I realize I've been posting quite abit lately asking for assistance with issues I've come up against and I'm thankful for the help that has been offered, and am happy with the progress I've made importing models from EVE Online succesfully into the SOASE Reb 0.96 Beta so far... but when it comes to Minmatar ships I have abit of an issue...using the same Modtools XSI steps and tangents etc and the Photoshop textures setups I have used successfully for over 20 ships...I encounter a wierd 'dissappearing texture effect' I'll post links to screengrabs here and i've also uploaded a Youtube video of the ship ingame.
the Youtube link should be up soon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OO5jpE-eCEM&feature=youtu.be

so the transparent 'looking mirror' with the wierd swirl (I did that to identify it) is supposed to be replicated on the other 'wing' that sticks out underneath the ships fuselage? any info or advice on what I might be doing wrong? I've used the same steps and setup for a ton of other models etc which have turned out great

looks like the wing may be a 2d plane instead of a 3d shape but not sure as I never seen that trick before. Both sides of a wing need a UV and a texture mapped to it.
Can you use the raycast [u] to select the inside faces? Can you zip up textures and scene and let me look? myfist0 at hotmail dot com
sure, yeah I'm not exactly sure what the issue is, I tried messing around with the poly mesh abit and didn't get anywhere, thanks! yeah I'll send it to ya
1 thing you could try that may help indicate what is happening is to try "No-Optimize" conversion of the xsi. file to mesh. and see what that looks like in game.
I took a look and it is only a plane mesh there and not a 3d mesh. Use the [u] raycast to select the wing and [ctrl + d] to extrude the shape, then move with the transform tool, then under Modify --> Poly. Mesh use Add/Edit Polygon Tool [n] to fill the hole.
Or try selecting the wing and Modify --> Poly. Mesh --> Duplicate polygons then Modify --> Poly. Mesh --> Invert Polygons
BTW I hope you are redoing that tangent map. Its very bad
hmm the step which calls for duplicating the polygons and inverting has worked!!! thanks a ton myfist0...although I'm not sure how to exactly improve the tangent map, but that may be abit too much work or above my 'artistic' talents for the time being, I appreciate the help SZ0 and myfist0! always. peace
