Its mothers day so Vasari should be here ? think vasari mother ships
Nice try.
Vasari is a one gender speecies. They were genetically engineered, cannot reproduce and depend on cloning. Its this reason i think their creators are the ones chasing them.
Prove it.
Has anyone considered the fact that their actually running from a natural event? That some crap went on and collapsed the centre of the galaxy into a massive black hole which is eating up everything and is just continuing to grow and expand as it consumes more matter. Simply no one except that one ship has survived to tell the tale, and that one said shit was in pieces and basically fell apart as it got back and the crew had gone crazy.
Yes some of us have.
That's make sence, but still, if they knew about black hole, would they knew it's might happan before that happan if thier star got too old and very mass? It's kind of odd, they thinking it's enemies but turn out it's just natural black hole. LOL.
The biggest black hole is far smaller than a star, and certainly cannot consume the center of a galaxy in less that astronomical times.
Maybe they accidentally opened a wormhole to the center of the universe.
Then why do they call their motherships "motherships" instead of "asexual progenitor ships?"
A black hole does not grow as it cannot pass the mass of the star that caused said black hole. A good example is if earth's sun turned into a black hole right now nothing would change except there would no longer be sunlight. A event horizon the point where light begins to warp is where a black hole begins to "suck" things in. Besides galaxies usually have black holes in the center anyways. So black holes are out.
Just to be clear; 1) Black holes can get bigger or smaller. (ever hear about them 'evaporating'?)2) As such, they can get larger then the star that made them.3) If they couldnt, how would you sugest supermassive black holes (like the ones in the middle of galaxys) were formed?4) If our star some how managed to turn into a black hole (it wont, it has no where near enough mass), it would cause MAJOR issues . With not having sunlight being the least of our worries. So even if it turned into a black hole, and we survived the explosion that it caused, and we survived the radiation (and to keep the list short;)and all that other crap, there would be a massive destabalisation of the orbits of the planets. No we wouldnt get sucked in right away, but we wouldnt have much time before we did (relitivly speaking).
The point of that horrible rant? Your talking to geeks and nerds about a space game. That means space is involved and there are probably people who actually do know about stuff in space, so before you go rattling of stuff you have no clue about be sure that you dont do it on a public forum
It takes a long time for a black hole to grow by absorbing materials, but just because a black hole seems to suck things in does not mean gravity shifts and planets change orbit. In order for that to happen a black hole first have to absorb a greater mass and then the gravity changes. Micro black holes do not radiate as much energy and they evaporate because they cannot form enough mass to hold (several theories on this a few "newer" ones that would state they do not evaporate). We do not know how super massive black holes formed it is total conjecture some say that gas clouds condense in on themselves and form super dense cores thus creating a black hole that will absorb the remaining gas causing the black hole to increase in size and so I admit I was wrong about black holes growing. But it does take an increasingly long time for them to grow over many many years for them to reach larger sizes. And I didn't talk about earth I stated that if our sun turned into a black hole the light would go out (radiation being emitted from a dieing star is normal anyways) but the planets would hold their orbits until the black hole increased in mass by absorbing cosmic dust and other debris that would be slowly sucked in. I'm not an astrophysicist but I am a physicist don't jump to conclusions saying that i don't know this topic well because no body knows black holes well we do not know much if anything about them at all since the subject of black holes is almost always in discussion and the theories are rewritten and proven then proven wrong and rewritten over and over again. Still the vasari are not running from a black hole.
Please , get out more.
How do you know "mother" isn't Vasari for asexual progenitor?
LOL
Some comments are so part clever, part crazy, part idiotic, that I can't help but laugh.
That was in one word
AWESOME
Does no one remember that the only ship to make it back from the "Threat" had suffered major battle damage?
i assume it did... why? its like trying to kill a cap ship and it jumps right before it dies 182 out of 2500 hull points or something
Our sun can't turn into a black hole because, as Ancient Titan said, it doesn't have enough mass. But what no one has mentioned yet is how a black hole actually forms.
First you must have a star of sufficient mass (a supergiant)(our sun is only a red giant; a supergiant is 10 times bigger).
Then, when the star has used all it's gases and energy, it explodes in an blast called a supernova (you may have heard the term "going nova").
After this, one of two things can happen:
1. It can condense into an incredibly dense star. It is small and extremely heavy (a tiny speck would way as much as a house).
2. It can collapse into a black hole. If you fell into it, time would slow down for you and you would be stretched out like spaghetti.
Therefore, not all stars are large enough to go nova, and not all supernovas produce black holes.
Also, even if our sun did turn into a black hole (again, not enough mass) we would never feel the effects of it anyway because the supernova that precedes the black hole would vaporize us instantly, along several other planets near the sun! Cheers!
Yes, I am a nerdy astronomy lover.
Agreed. The crew of the ship was found completely mad with fear. I don't think a black hole would make anyone mad, even after escape. Sure they would be scared to getting ripped to nothingness, but since they managed to escape, the crew had a belief that there was a chance to escape (and luckily they did), and would not lose their sanity. Hence, it can be concluded that it was not a black hole
I skiped over all that by calling it 'all that other crap'. As for more black hole stuffs; I'll agree that the formation of supermassive black holes is more or less debatable, but its almost agreed that they didnt start that way. As for the growth of black holes, yes it takes lots of mass for them to expand, but as far as the galactic time scale, it takes not that long, say only a billion years for blackholes to double in size. As mentioned micro black holes (theoreticly pop in and out of existance all over the place, all the time) normally evaporate just moments after creation. However the amount of mass needed to sustain a black hole is relitivly little, as evaporation takes quite a while on 'normal' sized black holes. As for orbit destablisation. I didnt say we would get sucked in like water going down the drain. No, it would take time, and there is plety of mass in our solar system to make any potential stationary black hole expand. Granted, much of the mass would be displaced in the resulting super nova that our star would most likly have to some how magicly make. So if magic were involved and POW our star was a black hole (I've had a few nightmares about that) if we survived 'all that other crap' eventually yes, our planet would get eaten up like a nice planet sized cookie. Tidal forces (yes I know it sounds funy since its space, not water) would shift things enough that over, say, millions of years, our orbits would have been messed up enough to get dragged into the black hole. So when I said eventually in my first post, I did mean eventually...as in millions of years.
After reading this thread, i feel like Sheldon Cooper just dropped by...
Bazinga!
The Big Bang Theory is my favorite show!
I dont think its a natural event, because why would they hint at portions of the TEC and Advent teaming up with the Vasari rebels to stop whatever it is. If it was a black hole or natural even, teaming up would do them no good
That's because in reality black holes do not become larger but more massive: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_hole
The no-hair theorem states that, once it achieves a stable condition after formation, a black hole has only three independent physical properties: mass, charge, and angular momentum.[26]
2) As such, they can get larger then the star that made them.
Actually, no way. But the Schwatzschild limit moves, if that is what you mean.
Implying that all sci fi games use real physics, but as it has been theorised the centre of a galaxy could be a giant black hole, which was also a proposed way to travel in time by stephen hawking, if in fact the centre of a galaxy is a blackhole, but the fun with sci fi is you can make your own laws of physics without it being a theory, so say the centre of a galaxy WAS a blackhole and SOMETHING made it expand and that its happening rapidly but which doesn't exist irl then that could explain why their asexually ruled empire is being swallowed up at an incredible rate and that their flagship fleet they sent to deal with it got completely wiped out.
But yeh in the lore it said a single ship made it back with massive battle damage and that the crew had lost its mind in fear but you know, if you saw a massive, unseen super natural even happening, overriding all your beliefs and securities about your unbeatable empire, ripping apart planets and ships alike at a massive rate and then hits you I would be a little scared.
