Since we have Titans as tanks in rebellion, can we modify Animosity to either give an armor or hp buff aura for a fleet (adjustments needed to make it ok and not too OP) for more advent synergy. Or maybe modify the armor skill itself to be a fleet armor buff and leave animosity in.
Also more artifacts!
- planet pop & pop growth
- extraction rate increase & credit income increase
- cheaper logistic or tactical slots or even more per planet from artifact.
To be honest I think they need to swap Telekinetic Push with Drain Antimatter. It just fits more with the other Battleships. But I agree Animosity should do more than just aunt.
I think push makes sense for the Halcyon since it's meant to be all about strikecraft. I am in favour of any Advent buffs though.
I've never understood why the Radiance has such weak synergy with rest of the Advent fleet. Animosity would be fantastic if it wasn't completely broken. Having a properly tanky ship with Progenitor shield restore or Rapture's Vengeance would make a lot of sense for the fleet composition. However Animosity not actually working relegates it to a dps ship with a decent anti-matter drain.
Thats not it exactly, the other battleships have anti-fighter abilities. Flak Burst for the Kol, and the Kortul has Jam Weapons. It actually would make much more sense giving Telekinetic Push to the Radiance.
And the Radiance is overshadowed because The Halcyon is a superior Military Opener with its stike craft and the Progenitor is the better for an economical opener. Also the Radiance doesn't fit with the new Advent Strategy. With a Progenitor/Halcyon/Rapture/Discord you can debuff the enemy fleet to pathetic levels, while giving your fleet an outrageous amount of buffs.
I'd still like them to allow Detonate Antimatter to target Titans, just not disable their abilities. That would already go a long way to giving the Radiance a new lease on life.
It is rather powerful though, I don't think stardock would give us a go on that
Don't the TEC get a few nasty toys to chuck at Titans? I'm not a full-time advent player, but I have noticed a bit of difficulty getting a titan's AM down (cough TLT cough)
Honestly I think rebellion has helped Radiance a bit already. All it really needs is for detonate antimatter to be able to target titans(only the damage & AM drain, not the ability disable) and more survivability during Animosity(maybe an extra 4/6/8/10% max shield mitigation during animosity?) so that using thata bility in late game fights is less of a mortal threat to the radiance.
With 2 changes in that vein(titan-targetting for DA & some sort of survivability buff on animosity) I think Radiance would become a very competitive ship.
For those who don't think DA should target titans: The kortul is easily able to drain comparable amounts of AM from titans with basic attacks & TEC has EMP blast. At present only the advent is unable to drain the AM of titans, which against titans like the TLT is a rather essential tool.
[EDIT: I was actually planning to make a thread about existing capital ship balance when we got to phase 4 of beta(I've been thinking about it and brainstorming ideas). I however think with all the new techs, bugs and whatnot the devs have anough on their plate atm without worrying about buffing old capital ships, with the possible exception of buffs directly related to rebellion concerns]
Naw, the AoE Debuffs are to strong to not get the radiance is tied with the Revelation's as the fat kid of advent Capital Ships.
The Debuffs are to strong to get to not pick the Progenitor/discord/rapture!
I don't see why not, without the disabling abilities part (which we know is possible to make Titans immune to from the Discord,) it would only blow up antimatter reserves and deal damage.
Basically it would be no worse than EMP Charge, which depletes antimatter and shields, and works on Titans.
The Vasari also have the Kortul's disruptive strikes, which we can only presume will work on Titans and drop their antimatter like a brick off of a 50 story building.
How does it not work? They changed it in one of the patching sessions before the Rebellion beta so that you cant get around the fact that you must attack it.
Seriously, ive never heard of it not working. though i have heard complaints of it not working as well
well, back in the day, if I used Animosity on your ships, it would change your target, but then you could just retarget whatever you wanted to. Basically it only did what it was supposed to do on the AI. Against actual human beings it was useless.
If they fixed that then ignore me. I haven't actually used a Radiance as a tank in forever because I never heard about that being fixed and quite frankly there are better early game synergies so by the time I'd grab one for the sake of it I'd just pump armour and detonate.
Aye. part of the problem is that it can't really function as a tank even with the taunt functioning. It's really no more durable then any other capitalship(if you're relying on the extra armor your shields are already down radiance is in danger and making the enemy focus radiance is the last thing you want to do). More to the point, no capital ships can bear the focus of late game fleets, especially advent capital ships which are squishier then their TEC/vasari counterparts.
For Animosity to really be beneficial, damage dealt to the Radiance during it's effect has to be in part "wasted". The opponent needs to really regret that that damage isn't going somewhere else.
The simplest way to accomplish that is to add a secondary effect to animosity that mitigates incoming damage to the radiance. If Animosity also gave +4/6/8/10% max shield mitigation while active(roughly a 30-40% damage reduction at rank 4 dependent on how much other shield mitigation bonus has been researched), animosity would really constitute a net loss for the opponent(-30-40% damage to upwards of 30 ships in their fleet, but all of the damage those ships dod eal is focused on radiance).
With a mitigation bonus during animosity Radiance may actually be tanky enough that forcing enemies to attack it is actually significantly beneficial.
note a shield mitigation boost is not the only way this could be accomplished: a straight % damage reduction(such as in the Kol's adaptive forceshield) or some sort of debuff to affected ships(-accuracy or weapon speed) would also do the job nicely. I favor shield mitigation chiefly because it fits the advent's image and they already have a bunch of attack speed-accuracy options on their ships.
Regardless I doubt such changes would be overboard as animosity is only up 20 out of 35 seconds(just a bit more then half the time).
Don't forget that Animosity has a maximum number of targets, so you're not focusing all of the enemy's firepower on your one ship, but rather diverting a portion of enemy firepower away from say, your Titan, who'se shields are going down faster than you would like.
Basically, if it works, and you have 2-3 Radiances, you can split up an enemy's firepower and severely reduce the efficiency of any attempt at focus-firing one target down.
Not that it doesnt need a buff or anything, I hardly ever use animosity as it is, but just keep in mind that in late games, you're not signing away your Radiance by hitting Animosity.
they should make dominas + radiance a combo
Considering you actually want the enemy to focus fire your titan, thats actually bad. The Raptures Vengeance ability with the titan as well as the debuffs the enemy gets from the progenitor. Trust me people have thought of this already the Radiance is bad in almost all situations. It does however do very well if you can micro him you can stop an embargo rush onto your world.
And if you instead made those 2-3 ships raptures or progenitors you'd keep the titan alive just as well without endangering your capital-ships by shifting focus to them. Additionally the Raptures & progenitors essentially mitigate damage from the entire enemy fleet rather just just diverting a portion of it.
Also frankly your titan is far better able to deal with that focus then the Radiance is. Also with how increasingly rare frigates are in late game battles now days(for fear of feeding the enemy titan), 30+ ships very well may be attracting the focus of most or all of the enemy fleet.
Also frankly, even with "limited targets" all it takes is accidentally forcing the enemy titan to attack the radiance to put the radiance is a rather tough spot.
Also there's no real debate that the radiance is sub-par, there's a reason no one uses it in multiplayer. It just strikes me that an obvious vector for buffing it would be to make it actually beefy enough(at least for the 20 seconds of animosity) that forcing a decent portion of the enemy fleet to attack it is a sensible idea
Makes sense.
I probably shouldn't comment in threads like these, I've been avoiding any kind of serious multiplayer PvP know-how on purpose.
What about making Animosity a target-able ability? This way you get to pick what ship gets focused. Early game it would function as it is; you would just use it on your Radiance. But once the titan rolls out you can use it on that to have a more durable ship take the beating.
Now that would be interesting.
Now that would be a very good & unique solution. Heck even in the absence of a titan if it were allowed to target structres it could be used to have enemies target a starbase.
I like.
Probably wouldn't be quite enough alone to make the Radiance competitive, but it would be a very large step towards that end(and that step will have been taken is a very interesting and unique manner).
and then 2 radiances synergize... you can just bounce it back and forth.
