Hey everyone.
I had a couple questions about the online multiplayer community, mainly how forgiving and or helpful vets are to new players trying to get into the game.
Thus far, I'm able to pretty much manhandle the AI on unfair and don't really sweat too much when playing on vicious. Is there any determining point while playing single player where you'd say I'm ready to start multiplayer?
Seeing as how this new version of the game is getting some publicity on steam, I assume there's a bunch of new players like myself. Is there anyone in the community doing teaching games or the likes? If not, anyone willing to?
I think that should cover it for now.
Thank you in advanced for your replies.
During trinity their was an equal number of people willing to teach and people who wouldn't play with anyone without a record because of smurfing sadly. There was also a fair number of less then decent people like any other community. In general people do tend to be awesome and helpful though. Plus in Rebellion it's only going to get better."Thus far, I'm able to pretty much manhandle the AI on unfair and don't really sweat too much when playing on vicious. Is there any determining point while playing single player where you'd say I'm ready to start multiplayer?"That is more then what I started with. Multiplayer doesn't have a ranked or score system. All online games are really just custom games. Therefore, it really depends on what kind of game the host is making. You can find Noob games, people just messing around, 5v5 to 1v1 hardcore games, Computer stomping etc. Just remember most people like to play with certain settings to speed up games. Faster speeds,Quick start, and most people avoid pirates.I have already noticed an increase in new players in Rebellion who have never even touched Sins before; so yes there are. I don't think there is any given "Teaching games", but people will generally help you when playing with them. I would and I met a good number of them when I first startedI suggest you host a game and add into the title what you want. "New player game", "Learning", etc. That is the best I got.Hope you stay and enjoy Sins.
There's the unity who help another to get strong then theres those tec and vasari who will slash, beat and stomp you for being weak. You must let go of your fear and embrace the end-then will you learn how to loose and eventually how to win. Watch replays of pro players and don't listen to people who tell you replays don't help. Learn what units counter what, what structure counter what. learn to build units first and avoid weapon and shield/hull researches until you have a large enough fleet.
Open your mind to the possibility there's sharks in the water and learn to live or avoid them. Do not whimper and die should they assault and bite you. Get up-never back down-do not fight if you can avoid it.
Word of warning, RiddleKing is a known troll. An amusing one, but still a troll.
Yes he is, but in this case he didn't really say anything wrong.
Thanks for both the informative and amusing reponses. I guess I have no choice but to jump in and hope I don't suck too hard.
just build about twice as many flack frigs and corvettes as you previously thought you could, and you should be fine. 2 frig factories going 100% should be enough to make sure you odnt get rolled.
Also. repair platforms.
One thing you can do is to watch replays of the games you've played in and study the good players. Try to understand what they're doing and why. Pay attention to things like ship movement and positioning.
We should probably link him to those replays guys lol.
these replays?

I think what sucks the most is Ironclad and Stardock don't really provide a system to cater to all of these interested players. They are maliciously and pathetically neglectful. Honestly, they make a dad who walks out on his newborn child look responsible.
