Ok I have played All the Galactic Civ 2 game. I don't tend to like RTS because I hate click-fest. The only two RTS games I like are the Total War series and the Homeworld Series so my question is what is this game like?
Is it similar to Homeworld? or is it more Total War with a Turn-based Statagic map with the RTS battles?
This game rewards layers for good choices I can liken StarCraft to chess game in which you have to make a move every five seconds but sins is like a go board(the game with the black and white stones)in that it really isn’t about one battle it’s a war. So you can have a lower apm and still kill someone with more micro skill simple because you manage your empire better. I perfered the yor/iconian in galatic civ you?

I play with Custom Races so my favaorite is the Federation (Star Trek) But if I were to pick a stock race it would be the Insect guys mind you I have over 30 custom so it has been a long time since I played as a stock race.
Thalan empire my first win on masochistic was with them…...memories anywaus sins really isn't much of a click fest I had to spend more of my 150+ amp on galatic civ to make decent time a turn in that game can take 30 min(choose netural insta terform have to deal with all those new tiles ewwww)then I have to at sins. Not really clicky intenstive if you know what I mean(sins)
Its closer to homeworld, it all real time. You don't have to play it as a clickfest, your units aren't hopeless without your guidance as in some other RTS games. That said, you do get an advantage if you can manage your forces better (AKA click faster), so if you're into competitive play that is a major factor. However, if you like managing space empires and watching space battles, you'll probably like it, and be more into the modding side of the game anyways.
Shouldn't that be "aren't hopeless"?
In late game you often have several battles going on at once. So part of your strategy is organising fleets and defences so you don't have to worry about certain places, but not getting too hung up on one battle.
AI thats fine you're fleets are not hopless if they have the right orders and back up.....however in pvp the ships target what they are best at not what would be the most best example focus firing on an advent captial to force it to retreat thus lowering the combat efficancy of the pieces on the board forceing the oppent to choose to retreat or keep fighting with one of the liberties lost(term form go each stone has four natural liberties and by adding ally stones next to them you can increase it to six ect*).
Look in your hand...it's a CD packed with fiery ships of destruction flying through space. Now, look again--it's a hand full of diamonds.
I'm riding a horse...backwards.
The game is really a "tactical-strategy" game.
Never really liked the word tactical....to gutteral but you made me almost lol (not a karma point but just a gold star for effort valor or something)
Most games are either "strategic" or "tactical" or else are strategic with tactical elements. In Sins the tactics pretty much are the strategic element. You tactics usually win the game and grand strategy takes back seat.
A good way to simplify the words tactics and strategy :
Tactics are what you do in the field.
Strategy is what you do in the tent far from the enemy.
You know your tactics failed if your enemy gets close to your tent,
You know your strategy failed if you don't have a tent to begin with.
