Yep. So started a game.
Bear hit sovereign once. Maul. Twice. Maul. Three times. Maul. Four times. Maul Five times...
This mechanic is so obviously broken, and has generated a sufficient amount of commentary, yet hasn't been addressed at all in the last patch?
Granted, it was more a concern to players because it made it too easy for players against computer controlled opponents. But point is, it looks like it's still there.
Or it could just be that in this instance you were unlucky?
Bears normally only hit my champions 2 or 3 times before missing. Best thing to do is test it out over a larger number of battles and then decide whether it is broken or not.
What LM said.
I've definitely noticed it not hitting me as much. Thank god.
I have had this happen before, but it can really only happen with a particularly low dex/dodge Champion, at the lowest levels. After you gain a few levels, if bears ever hit you even twice in a row, it's an exception, and if they do, you have enough HP to survive it.
Bears are *supposed* to be dangerous to low level Champions.
The #1 threat to america... Bears!
They are godless killing machines.
Maul is something that probably shouldn't be able to do every round. I can't throw knives or use my fire spell from my staff every round, but I can use this super ability?
It's working as expected for me in .86
I would be ok with it working as Xia recommends though.
The funny thing is, I dont find it a super ability. Either in AI or player hands. Like I said, it's dangerous against low level characters with particularly low dodge scores, but then, so is pretty much everything in the world.
In player hands, I'd never equip a maul weapon unless they had an abnormally high accuracy. Otherwise , they miss most of the time with it in regard to multiple hits. It works out to an occasional extra hit, but most of the time, you miss by your second shot. Any time Ive equipped one, it's been a resounding disappointment. Maul weapons tend to be mid-range damage, from what I've seen. I'd rather just use a high damage weapon and do that extra damage reliably and consistently, then wait for the random extra hit.
I'm not bothered by this ability at all, compared to the other things that bother me in the game. Double-strike or stun every few rounds are far more powerful abilities, IMO.
