I might as well put this up for people who want to play online with Rebellion. Not sure how many actually pre-ordered with the whole Steamworks issue going on.
After giving some thought I am probably gonna pre-order the game and throw out my issues with Steam and see how it goes. Heck maybe I'll learn to like Steam after this is over. (heard they got some pretty nice sales).
So I may as well figure out if people are even going to play this online since currently not many do.
Come on guys Multiplayer needs balancing and fixing in beta. Let's do the job right.
I'm down with playing online when the Beta starts.
We will need to organize some ship testing matches too...
Just to test changes made to existing ships, and the capabilities of the new ones. I'm curious to see what the break point is of the Titans vs Starbase. I also want to see how much fleet supply would be needed to take one down... to benchmark the strength to cost/time analysis. It would be hard to do that in just a FFA spam fest match.
Well they stated that a fully upgraded SB will barely kill off the level 1 Titan. Anything else you better bring either your own Titan or if you are TEC loyalists group all your SBs in the same well in one spot.
I have pre-ordered!!
so yeah, i'll be on as much as i can, but March is going to be very busy for me. i have something going on the first 3 weekends. ironically, i may be on during weeknights more.
Signing in, kind of. If my schedule allows.
"has allowed us to do is to eliminate the potential for smurfing."
Awesome
I'll definitely be in beta!
The only issue I have with steam is that it has an impact on game performance, but that's usually minimal.
According to Frogboy, it improved performance substantially.
This was a big issue in the past five plus years. I know because I complained about it quite a bit among other things in relation to Steam. With newer rigs (built mine two months ago) it does not seem to be a problem from what I've seen as well as heard from the wire. I believe it is 30mb of ram and about 1-2% core usage on a Dualcore processor? I could be wrong so if I am please correct me.
Outside of any engine tweaks I believe this referred to performance during multi-player matches.
Perdon, hago la misma pregunta que sporemaster (reply 33) ¿ qué es smurfing? (no tengo amigos "gamer"... no conozco palabras...)
"Smurfing"...
ONE player with MORE THAN ONE account online and who pretends to be new so he can win against other new players more easily.
To my knowledge (somebody please correct me if I am wrong), smurfing is generally defined as a very skilled player that creates a new game name (user identification) so others do not see how good or bad their win/loss record is. This can be done for many reasons but is often considered bad as new players will not know they are playing a very skilled player.
Again, this is a generic definition, many people will define it differently depending on how they view the act of 'smurfing'.
Smurfing: The act of lying and making a person believe they have an advantage over you, and then revealing your true potential or identity, often benefiting oneself.
I put in for a pre-order, so I'm in for the Beta. At least I'll load it up now and then and check it out.
