reminds me of ruse, close combat and sins really... the scale and detail.

This looks like World in Conflict meets Ruse and due out this month. The devs of RUSE in fact are the team behind this game. Their are over 300 unique units and the gigantic maps stretch up to 150 km²! I guess it could also be compared in a way to sins of a solar empire. The game is set during the cold war and has 8 sides including Poland, Czech, British, German, French as well as the ubiquitous US and USSR. The game claims to be realistic but certainly from what I have seen is not, especially when it comes to infantry. However on a "battle" level on such a huge map may in fact be a good representation of the basics. I am not sure whether you need to build units.
I'm preloading on steam now.
This is one of the few games that I am keeping an eye on for 2012. It is supposed to come out this month, but seeing how we are nearly at the half-way mark and the last beta for W:EE has yet to get underway, I wonder if the date might slip to March.
Still, can't wait! I liked RUSE.
I have pre-download and am playing the multiplayer BETA
Is the MP beta the last beta for the game? I thought there was supposed to be an open beta too.

Love the game all apart from the fact that sirmish mode is only 1VS1 if you want to use AI
just played a few games and am impressed... but it seems it will be a hair puller and very stressfull to play.
I played the closed beta and have played the pre order beta. The game is extremely good with great depth but it is very punishing to new players.
The unit limit prevents games from dragging out for too long but also makes it very difficult to recover from setbacks. I strongly recommend playing WG:EE with a friend only for the first few battles to get a feel for the game and to unlock units.
Can someone describe the game somewhst closer please? I knew its going to be combination of RUSE and WiC, but i thought, its more like RUSE gameplay in Cold War setting - therefore the link to WiC. Meanwhile, after checking that manual, it seems it has more common with WiC than setting, i understand there is no base building, right?
@OP> there are 8 sides including Poland, Czechoslovak, British,.... - fixed for you
Didn't it used to be Czechoslovakia or something?
Going to start calling this Xia's Law...
Yep, i meant it as adjective, like British. The original post was written in this regard not in a very consequent way, it should be either Poland, Czechoslovakia, Britain... or Polish, Czechoslovak, British... not that its very important.
@ Lord Xia> If that was aimed at me, for nitpicking the OP, i was merely joking. But maybe you would be compelled to do the same, if you saw your country undeservedly neglected. If that was aimed at StevenAus, i do not see a problem, he just misunderstood me, because of the reasons explained above.
Anyway, back to topic. I watched the gameplay videos and i am probably going to skip this. I was already disappointed, that RUSE did not feature naval warfare, and this one loses even proper aircraft and that simple base building RUSE had? I am not very interested in playing just with infantry, tanks and helicopters, even if there are 300 different types of them in the game. And i fear that ability to play for my country in a military RTS game, although absolutely unique and almost bizzare, is probably not going to be enough to persuade me either.
Which country is yours, the Czecho part or the Slovakia part?
Slovakia
