I just had a very epic battle with 4 heroes vs Torax that was overshadowed by some bugs:
1. Every time i right clicked on Torax to attack him with a unit that was still some tiles away from him. That unit stopped one tile short from him and could not attack. That cpost me some critical attacks.
2. When I saw that torax was of type 'Elemental' I tried the sunder spell on him just to see him healed for 42 HP...
3. In the end I only won because my last hero was a caster that stood at the edge of the map and killed him with flamedarts while he was unwilling to cross the last tile between the two, probably a similar error to what happened to me in 1.
I fought him last night, [ while kinda drunk ] and noticed that you can click on the center square of him, and units will move up but not attack. The trick to actually attack him, and use powers like crushing blow on him and the like, was not to click on his center square, but one of his edge squares. Not sure how the coding is done on this, but it would be nice if we could click on any of his squares, and our units would intelligently move up and take a swing/use a special attack.
Also, I wonder if he was healed because you used an Earth spell on the big, bad earth elemental lord guy. I realize that as the player, with no warning, that would be pretty annoying to see, but thematically it kind of makes sense that an earth elemental of his power would absorb and be healed by Earth magic.
This brings me to a related point.... I really wish that there was some way to see what special powers enemies have, while we are actually in the middle of fighting them. It would make it much easier to know if something is a bug, or a result of a cool special power we didn't know about.
Oh you can: just double-click on them.
The sunder thing is a bug. It did the same to me on an air elemental. Also if you click on the portraits in the initiative row, you get full info on the creature/unit.
My biggest complaint against these epic monsters is their vulnerability to AOE. If they take up multiple tiles, they eat AOE effects for each tile they are in.
I killed that plagueland one who is vulnerable to cold with one instant cast blizzard on the first turn.
Click the picture! Dude, you're my hero, lol. Only time I ever cast sunder, it was resisted... I still think it would be cool if that one guy could absorb any earth magic, just a thought.
