This is impressive......
Alienware will install Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit on the X51 and have indicated that it will offer playable performance in Battlefield 3 on all hardware configurations @ 1080p and high detail.
Alienware X51 Product Specifications:
All this and is about the same size as a Xbox 360 or PS3....It's also future proof so you can swap out components for upgrades like to video cards or ram.....
It may be awhile before I'm in the market for a new PC, but I'll definitively include Alien Ware in the consideration list now. I'm using a Small Form Factor. I've grown accustomed to the sleekness of the smaller case. Is good to see a "dedicated gaming rig" built within one.
I"ve been looking to spend some gld profits and this looks like it might be it. Incredible size and power for the $. Going to look into this one.
Alienware made a PC people can afford!?! This is a sign of the apocalypse, people.
Meh
for 700$ I can put together much better gaming PC....
For 700$, you could put together a better machine than that a year ago, I did.
I'm not one to put together my own computer, so if they offer a price I can afford, I will start looking their way.
Yah, and as far as computers go, I've seen computers that cost this much that offered a lot less to be honest. My computer I'm building has the i5-2400 and either a GTX 560(probably)/HD 6870(maybe) for around the $600-700, but again though you go with what you got and a i3-2100 (I'm assuming that's what it is anyways) is a pretty decent processor. Not sure about the graphic card as I dont have any experience with it.
I did have a alien laptop, but it was a pain in the ass to deal with. The screen got cracked after less than a month of using it and thinks just went downhill from there. That's actually not to say it wasn't Alien's fault (though I looked up and that particular model had a lot of issues). But I think most of the issues I had with it was because I tried to game with a laptop, and desktop though shouldn't be an issue.
Good price for Alenware but I have to laugh that they consider an i3 and a 545 a serious "gaming" PC. Please. And for $700? Double please. And a 240 watt power supply? Really?
Wow...a lot of people are going to get ripped off buying this turkey.
Well, I've never been an early adapter, so I wait to see what bugs will shake out, especially when the reviews come out...
Yeah, I can understand that but the form factor will be the main thing, I don't think anyone buying "off the shelf components" can get it that small, the plus side is you can swap out vid card, ram, and the processor at a later date like you can do with current towers.....
The main thing is whatever your fiances are, this is affordable for most people versus the $2199.00 Aurora.....
The main problem with that is that any decent gaming card won't fit in that small form factor and certainly won't run off that really, really small power supply. You need a 500 watt plug minimum for most gaming video cards. You'd never get what you need in that case.
That's why I gonna wait to see what the pros say about, thanks for the insight, tell this came along, was gonna begin my quest to build one...May still do that, just playing the waiting game.....
Why throw away money for overpriced boxes when I can (and do) build my own?
That looks like the ideal setup for someone who wants to rebuild a new PC in 4 years. Seriously, good luck trying to upgrade that thing with that form factor. It's like one step removed from a laptop
If you're looking to play current titles, it pretty much is a laptop without the portability premium. A 545 is roughly equivalent in throughput to a mid-to-high-end card from five years ago.
Spent $100 more 3 years ago to build my own and it's still better value than that thing. Only thing that computer has on my tower is the smallish form factor and slightly better video card.
Sounds like this alien ware will alienate one from their cash.
I wouldn't buy this. Being able to upgrade easily is huge for me. I think its sexy. But that said, I'd rather have something a bit more clunky with more options.
For folks that don't know a hell of alot of pc's, its certainly attractive. And odds are you can buy an newer version with the best stuff for 600 in 2 years... and then 2 years after that... or you can build something custom and get your upgrades $200 at a time.
